Naming of Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong

Hung Hom Station was formerly Kowloon Station, but it was later renamed Hung Hom Station. As early as 1994, when the railway development strategy and the East Rail Tsim Sha Tsui Extension were announced, it was suggested that the Kowloon-Canton Railway (British section) should be extended from Hung Hom Kowloon Station to Tsim Sha Tsui, and the name of Kowloon Station was officially renamed Hung Hom Station.

It was not until 1996 that the Kowloon Railway (British section) was renamed as the Kowloon Railway and the Kowloon Station was officially renamed as Hung Hom Station. However, according to past customs, the intercity passenger service to and from Chinese mainland will still be called Hung Hom Station from Kowloon Station.

20 19 In April, China Railway Corporation renamed Kowloon (Hung Hom) Station as Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong.
