Left Introduction to The World's Biggest Island How did the humble Han people create a generation of slaughter assistants?
Zuo was born in Hunan in 1812 and died in 1885 at the age of 73. A late bloomer. He didn't take power until he was about 5 years old. As the governor of Zhejiang province, as a provincial cadre. Later, I went to Dongge University and joined the cabinet. There was no prime minister in the Qing dynasty, and college students were equal to prime ministers. In today's words, this is "Vice Premier the State Council" or "Prime Minister". At the age of 61, Zuo was the "Prime Minister", and at the age of 69, he was the Minister of War. Later, Empress Dowager Cixi asked Zuo to handle the envoys of various countries and take charge of foreign affairs. At that time, it was also his peak period, and it can be said that he mastered the power of internal and external affairs.
Tang Zong was a Han nationality in the left, and Manchu was the foundation of the Qing dynasty. In this dynasty with a wide gap between Manchu and Han, if a Han Chinese wants to win the trust of Empress Dowager Cixi, there are two points: first, he must be loyal to Empress Dowager Cixi; Second, he can do what others can't do and make contributions that others can't do. The Qing Dynasty attached importance to military martial arts. Since Kangxi, the Qing Dynasty has given the highest reward to military exploits. Zuo's life was so successful because he planned a very famous event, that is, in the late 197s and early 198s, Zuo led his troops to Xinjiang with the then Eight Banners, and fought a fierce battle with Agoudas, a separatist force supported by Russia, which finally safeguarded national unity and drove away the Russian aggressors.
what the hell is going on here? Let me go with you. In 1865, Agoudas, an officer of Haohan State in Central Asia, led his own army to invade the vast areas north and south of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang, China, and declared the establishment of an independent country here. Six years later, Russia invaded Ili, an important town in the northwest of China. In May, 1875, 65-year-old Zuo was appointed as an imperial envoy to command Xinjiang military affairs. The main force of the western expedition to Xinjiang is the team he left behind after abolishing the Xiang army. The left army attacked from north to south. First, occupy Urumqi and other places and quickly end the war in northern Xinjiang. Then in nearly a year, they gradually recovered the cities in southern Xinjiang, and finally forced Agubo, who had ruled Xinjiang for 13 years, to commit suicide. In 1881, Russia returned Ili to China. So far, Xinjiang has recovered 1.6 million square kilometers of land. If calculated by area, the lost land recovered on the left is equivalent to the area of eight provinces in Hunan, which is equivalent to one-sixth of the current land. Therefore, it is recorded that Zuo was a general who recovered most of China's territory through war. Zuo's achievements have also been written into the poem, which has been passed down to this day:
The general has not yet returned, and Xiangzi is all over the Tianshan Mountains.
The newly planted willow is 3 miles away, and it leads to the spring breeze through Guan Yu.
this poem praises the left. Zuo's meritorious service is not only to recover lost territory. When he was working in the northwest, he built water conservancy projects, built roads and bridges, and reclaimed farmland, which brought some military industries to the local area and did many good things. In addition, Zuo is also a very famous leader in the Westernization Movement. At that time, he, Zeng Guofan, Li Hongzhang and Hu Linyi were called "four famous ministers in the late Qing Dynasty".
As we said before, Zuo is the ancestor of grass roots. Because he was down and out in his early years, he didn't regain power until he was nearly 5 years old. Li Hongzhang and Zeng Guofan were famous ministers in the late Qing Dynasty, and they were also what he called ministers. They basically got important positions around the age of 3
Left home is very poor. In our current words, he has no "roots" and no background. His father is a poor scholar, mainly engaged in farming. He started a private school to teach students while working in the countryside. But Zuo's personality was different from that of many children when he was a child. Zuo is a prodigy. He has the ability to never forget anything. He can recite the four books and five classics once. He can not only recite them, but also be good at making sentences. If someone gives Zuo a couplet temporarily, Zuo can take it out immediately. Therefore, when the adults in the village saw Zuo's intelligence, they all said that the child would have a bright future. Later, Zuo discovered that only by passing the imperial examination can he give full play to his talents. No matter how capable he is in the countryside, he can only be used in agriculture. Therefore, Zuo realized that the imperial examination was the ladder for his promotion.
in p>1833, 21-year-old Zuo went to Beijing for the first time. At that time, the evaluation of the eight-part essay paper had the examiner's subjective tendency, such as whether the handwriting was sloppy and neat, whether the words at the beginning and end were accurate, and whether there were flaws in ideology and morality. After reading all these questions, the examiner will see whether these questions are deducted, whether the writing is beautiful and whether the intention is high, and then score. Generally speaking, people with strong abilities may have different views from most people. Zuo felt that he had written a good paper after answering it, but when he showed it to the examiner, the examiner felt that Zuo Tang was unconventional, grandstanding and full of fallacies, so Zuo became famous in Sun Shan this time. After returning home, Zuo summed up the reasons for his failure. Knowing that his writing was not popular with examiners, he wrote something in line with mainstream values when he returned to Beijing for the second time in 1835. Zuo Wen's writing style is already good, and I have more confidence in handing in my papers. He was sure that he was all right. He is not a scholar, nor a scholar, but at least he is a scholar. As a result, Zuo waited in the hotel for two days. He didn't find himself in the column of Huang Bang Jinshi, but he saw his name in the catalogue.
When it comes to transcription, maybe everyone doesn't know what it means. Copywriting refers to a person who is a little literate but can't reach a high level, so the court requires these people to be secretaries in various government departments. Zuo is very angry. He felt that nature was playing tricks on people, so he went home to prepare for the third imperial examination. Although three years passed, Zuo went to take the imperial examination again, but I don't know why he didn't pass the exam this time. This time, Zuo was ashamed to meet his elders in Jiangdong, so he moved from his hometown to Liling County nearby, where he opened a library to teach. When Zuo started his career, he named himself "Bright Today", which means "Zhuge Liang in this life". Zuo compared himself to Zhuge Liang and told others that he was not without ambition, but waiting for Bole, who knew the goods, to recognize his swift horse. Indeed, Zuo lived up to his expectations. He waited and had an opportunity. At that time, there was a famous man named Tao Shu, who was the governor of two rivers in Liling County. One year, Tao Shu went home to visit relatives, and Liling county magistrate quickly arranged the hall and hotel and made a good reception. He also found that Tao Taishou disliked eating and drinking, was lustful, liked to discuss knowledge and read poems correctly. When it comes to literati, people talk about Left, saying that he is "Zhuge Liang in the world", and couplets are also well matched. Liling county officials liked it very much, so they sent someone to ask Zuo to write couplets on both sides of the main room and inn, so that Governor Tao could feel the cultural atmosphere of Liling county. Master Zuo Tang wrote such a couplet with a brush after learning from Tao Taishou. Couplets are: erotic palace, Jiashan has 2 ceiling stones; The second half is: the river flows, and the children of Bazhou return to the public day and night. This couplet is skillful, elegant and rich in connotation, and tells the most proud experience of Tao Shu's life. At the same time, I also wrote down the enthusiasm of welcoming him in my hometown. Tao Shu is an expert. He saw the allusions in this couplet at a glance and immediately danced with joy, saying that his hometown is really full of talents and has a high level of education. Therefore, Tao Shu asked the people who wrote this book and knew Zuo Tang Zong.
Later, Zuo met Lin Zexu on the recommendation of Hu Linyi. After the tiger sold out of cigarettes, Lin Zexu was very depressed. He passed by Liling, met Zuo, and talked with him about the world situation. At that time, Lin Zexu asked Zuo where the hidden dangers were in the Qing Dynasty, and Zuo said that the hidden dangers at sea were the biggest. First of all, Japan faces the sea and looks at China; Secondly, the high profits of British and American ships also threaten China. In short, it is "close to the coast, away from Russia". Lin Zexu was deeply touched by this and praised Zuo as a talented person. Therefore, as early as 2 years before Zuo regained Xinjiang, Lin Zexu predicted that when Zuo Zongnian was only 38 years old, Zuo would stay alone in western Xinjiang. Lin Zexu handed over the valuable information he collected in Xinjiang for many years and his war defense plan to Zuo. After Zuo took office, he attached great importance to Russia in the north, because he knew that even across the Pacific Ocean, other countries wanted to fight here. If Russia calls, it will be dangerous for the Qing Dynasty to go south.
Later, Zuo made many dignitaries, but these dignitaries didn't play much role at that time. In 1852, these opportunities came. Hong Xiuquan Uprising of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom started in Guangxi and spread all the way to Hunan, which made the then governor of Hunan feel scared and didn't know what to do. At this time, someone suggested that he go to Zuo, saying that this world is rare and this life is Wolong. So, in the second year of Xianfeng, Zuo assisted Hunan Governor Zhang. He is 4 years old this year. Zhang Zuohou was invited to be a secretary and ask questions, responsible for finding people and making suggestions. Taking this opportunity, Zuo finally had the opportunity to display his talents and was fully responsible for the fortifications of Changsha City. Under the command of Zuo, everything is arranged in perfect order. The Taiping Army besieged Changsha for three months and took the initiative to withdraw its troops until the logistics supply was not in place.
Zuo Yi became famous. In March 1854, Zuo entered the Hunan shogunate for the second time at the invitation of Hunan Governor Luo, which lasted for six years. At that time, the rule of the Qing Dynasty in Hunan was in jeopardy. Most cities around Changsha were occupied by Taiping rebels, and peasant uprisings broke out one after another. Left to work day and night to help Romania stabilize the situation in a planned way; At the same time, the left-wing party opened up new sources and reduced expenditure, and vigorously raised ordnance and grain and grass, which finally turned the situation in Hunan into safety. So there was a saying in the imperial court at that time: "China can't live without Hunan, and Hunan can't live without Zuo Tang Zong."
There is an old saying: "The cone is in the bag, and the end is in the device." Zuo's talent has been fully displayed in Hunan. How did he stand out in court? This is mainly due to the recommendation of Zeng Guofan, another famous minister in the late Qing Dynasty. Zeng Guofan is one year older than Zuo, but his success is much earlier than Zuo. Zeng Guofan was already an out-and-out courtier at that time. Zeng Guofan and Zuo are good friends. After Zuo became famous, Zeng Guofan recommended Zuo to the imperial court: first, he helped him manage military affairs, then sent him to Hunan to recruit soldiers and horses, and then took this opportunity to recommend Zuo as the governor of Zhejiang, which was equivalent to the important position of Zhejiang governor and military commander. At this time, Zuo is 49 years old and almost 5 years old. From then on, the left official career was smooth and he took power.
Although Zeng Guofan praised Zuo's kindness, Zuo did not obey Zeng Guofan. He disagreed with Zeng Guofan many times on the important government affairs of the Left Hospital. As long as he thinks it makes sense, he won't agree with Zeng Guofan. He also said, "Personal relationships are not allowed in business." To this end, a pair of couplets also specifically reflected this point, saying that at that time, two people were flushed because of a certain problem, and Zeng Guofan was very unhappy, saying that Zuo was younger than him, but he argued with him. Due to the high character of Zuo, Zeng Guofan used Zuo Gaoji as a couplet: "Ji Zi dares to speak high and often disagrees with me." This means that Zuo thinks he is smart and doesn't change his mind like Zeng Guofan. Zuo was proficient in couplets and immediately made a pair: "I made a mistake in my country." Do you have an economic history? " Fight back against Zeng Guofan and answer blows with blows.
From this incident, we can see that although the feudal society was corrupt, bureaucrats often formed party camps for personal gain, but this was not always the case. When it comes to a generation of famous officials, if he is just corrupt, if his ability and personality strength are not enough, then many people can't keep up with him, especially important officials like Zuo, Zeng Guofan and Li Hongzhang. Re-examining Zuo's struggle experience today can correct some readers' prejudice against the late Qing Dynasty.
