Plant cultivation of narcissus in Zhangzhou

Huang Tingjian's poem "Fairy Ling Bo gives birth to dusty socks, and the water is full of tiny moons", Zhu's poem "Where does ondine come from? The green sleeves are white", Jiang Teli's poem "Xiang Xiang is confident and of high quality, so it is in harmony", Kangxi's poem "Poets express their feelings in vain, but they don't know the first flower in Ling Bo", and Qiu Jin's poem "White should snow, and Xiang Xiang won't let plum blossoms" are all among them.

According to Zhang's genealogy in Caiban village, during Jingtai period of Ming Dynasty (1450- 1456), when Henan officials retired to their hometown, they crossed Dongting Lake and picked up two daffodil heads from the water and brought them back to their hometown to plant Pipaban at the foot of the round mountain. Since then, daffodils have proliferated and spread to neighboring villages. By the end of Qing Dynasty, the area of daffodils had reached more than 800 mu, which were exported to wuyue and other places. According to the Records of Longxi County, Longxi is the first narcissus in Fujian, and its roots (bulbs) reach Wuyue, which blooms in winter.

Narcissus has been cultivated in Zhangzhou for more than 500 years. According to reports, during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Guanghui, an official in the foothills of Ganzhou, retired from his hometown and passed through Jishui, Jiangxi. He saw an elegant and beautiful flower by the mountain stream, and he couldn't put it down, so he took it back to his hometown garden for planting. Unexpectedly, the soil, water quality and climate around the round mountain are very suitable for the growth of narcissus, and narcissus seems to have found its ideal home here. Since then, narcissus has formed an indissoluble bond with Zhangzhou people. All kinds of beautiful and touching legends about daffodils have also spread in Zhangzhou, a fertile land. For example, the folk story "Golden Lantern Louvre" and the drama "Narcissus" interpret the two major varieties of narcissus as brave and kind lovers. This pair of lovers, later created by modern artists, became a pair of protagonists in the huge murals in the waiting room of Zhangzhou Railway Station and the lobby of Dongshan Huafu Hotel. There is also a dialect ballad "Narcissus Love Song", which also sings along the Jiulong River: "The daffodils are laughing, and A-mei and his brother are affectionate. The sky is falling, the sea is dry and the rocks are rotten. "

Narcissus has become the pride of Zhangzhou. "This is the only famous flower in the world, and there is no other place in the world." This is a couplet left over from the Qing dynasty light years at the foot of the round mountain. This couplet expresses the deep love of Zhangzhou people for Ling Boxian. At the foot of the round mountain, there is also a place where daffodils are planted, which is still called the garden. There is no doubt that this garden is where Zhang Guanghui planted daffodils 500 years ago. Things are rare, simple and elegant, and narcissus was also covered with a mysterious veil in its early years. At that time, it was widely rumored that daffodils could only be planted in a few fields at the foot of the mountain, and they could not live after a building. Flower farmers are secretive about daffodil planting techniques, and some even say that there are only daffodils in the mountains. These rumors have become history, but because of these origins, the first daffodil art exhibition hall in China was built in Caiban Village at the foot of the round mountain. People in Zhangzhou can't live without daffodils. Narcissus has become an auspicious and beautiful holiday gift for Zhangzhou people. Farmers in Hu Axiang usually put up couplets containing daffodils and hang paper-cuts of New Year pictures with daffodils in the hall during the Spring Festival. Overseas Chizi people who went out from Zhangzhou also regarded daffodils as local flowers. 1984 and 1997 were designated as Zhangzhou flowers and Fujian flowers respectively, and were elected as 10 China traditional famous flowers.

"Water is strange when it is open, but it is bone when it is heavy, and muscle when it is heavy." The pure white flowers of narcissus are dotted among the graceful green leaves, and there is a golden crown on the crystal-clear petals. The flowers are supported by green flowers, slender, graceful and moist, forming a pair of yellow, white and green patterns. She is not gorgeous, nor colorful, but a little more dignified, beautiful and graceful. In the cold winter, she sincerely conveyed a good quality and a good feeling to people, making people realize the true colors and true meaning of life. Perhaps this is the eternal charm of daffodils.
