Where is the Miluo River?

The Miluo River originates in xiushui county, Jiangxi Province, flows westward through Pingjiang County and Miluo City (where the Mishui River meets the Luojiang River), and joins the Xiangjiang River in Xiangyin County. Its main stream is 253 kilometers long and its drainage area is 5543 square miles. It is the largest tributary of Xiangjiang River in northern Hunan.

The Miluo River is famous mainly because of Qu Yuan. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, when Qu Yuan, a famous politician and poet of Chu State, was exiled, he once lived in Renshan on the bank of Miluo River. In 278 BC, Ying (now jiangling county, Hubei), the capital of Chu, was attacked by Qin Jun. Qu Yuan felt hopeless in saving the country and died in Miluo River.

Located in Miluo City, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, in the northwest of Renshan Mountain, 3 kilometers away from Quzi Temple. Hebo Lake is a part of the tearful Luojiang River, so it is named Hebo Lake, because it is not too deep and it is also a curved part of the tearful Luojiang River. It is said that Qu Yuan, a doctor in San Lv, threw himself into the river here. In memory of him, people along the Yangtze River throw zongzi here to feed Qu Yuan on the fifth day of May every year, and hold a large-scale folk dragon boat race. The stone tablet by the river was washed away by the flood and has not been repaired.
