Passive optical network based on PON uses optical fiber as transmission medium, which is similar to the optical fiber used in our home. The local OLT equipment is connected to broadband network, telephone network and IPTV network, and connected to the user ONU equipment through the optical splitter of 1:32. Connect Internet signal, telephone signal and IPTV through ONU equipment.

At present, there are two standards for PON networks, EPON and GPON. Relatively speaking, GPON has greater development potential and higher capacity, so GPON mode can be considered.
