Tourism in Peru-(4) Rainbow Mountain

Every year, nearly one million tourists go to Machu Picchu in Peru (one of the seven new wonders of the world), but since 20 15, a new discovery has attracted more people to visit the Rainbow Mountain in Peru.

Located in the Andteas Mountains in the southeast of Kuske, the mountains are still there. The difference is that the thousands of years of snow and ice that covered the top of the mountain four years ago finally melted, and the loss of topsoil exposed the mountains with mineral deposits, showing various colors such as green, yellow, brown and red, and draped over the ridges like ribbons, attracting about 1500 tourists every day.

The tour company takes tourists from Kuske to Rainbow Mountain by bus every day. Tourists need to get on the bus at 4-5 am at the earliest, then walk between hotels, guesthouses and crowded rooms, and then climb the mountain road.

Our family of four rented a taxi and a Kia car in advance and didn't go on the road until 6 am. Go southeast along the 3S highway, and then turn to the 124 highway, which takes about two hours. But who ever thought that the car arrived at a bridge in less than an hour and found that the bridge had been closed for maintenance. Helpless, we had to make a detour. But this way, honey!

This is a winding mountain road on the side of the mountain, only pushed by bulldozers, with no paving stones and no asphalt. Winding along the mountain road, you can just pass a car. There is a split mountain wall on one side and a steep hillside on the other.

Sometimes in low-lying places, stones washed out by rain on the road surface will be pushed onto the car chassis. Every time I turn a corner, my heart is in my throat. I am really afraid of a car turning over. I really want the driver to turn around and go back. Can we not go? But there is no place to turn around!

After nearly three hours of turbulence, we finally arrived at a parking lot near Phulawasipata town, and took a helicopter ride at 1220 meters to the plateau at an altitude of 4620 meters.

As soon as I got off the bus in the parking lot, I began to gasp. The red mouth that found her daughter turned into a violet.

Do you know what acute altitude sickness is? Acute altitude sickness refers to an acute syndrome that people can't adapt to the anoxic environment from low altitude to high altitude. Mild acute altitude sickness is altitude sickness, while severe acute altitude sickness will cause brain edema, pulmonary edema or cerebral pulmonary edema, and it will be life-threatening if you don't accept emergency rescue.

From here, people can climb mountains on foot, and it takes about two hours to reach the top, which varies according to their physical condition. You can also ride a horse for about 40 minutes.

Our family has always lived at an altitude of only over 300 meters. According to our physical condition, we decided to change our family from mechanical soldiers to cavalry.

Our driver arranged four horses for us, each with a pony (the size of the horse is equivalent to that of an Icelandic horse) and each with 80 soles (about 27 dollars).

Finally got up, 5036 meters above sea level! Walking for 35 minutes is equivalent to walking less than six meters per minute.

The cold wind is rustling, and the sun shines on people through the thin air, which does not bring much warmth.

Nothing grows, either sand or stones, only a few plateau eagles stop on the ridge not far away.

The valleys covered with yellow-green vegetation set off various mountains, vast expanse.

Local vendors sell all kinds of supplies here.

In this polar region, they didn't steal. Although they worked hard to carry a camel on their shoulders, the price was lower than in Kuske. How kind!
