What's interesting about the central defender?

do you know where the central defender is? Zhongwei is not a popular tourist city, but the scenery here is different from ordinary urban attractions. What you can feel here is some history and culture. If there is an opportunity, I suggest you go to the central defender.

The slogan "Go Northwest" that supported the frontier during the Republic of China looks like a "cultural odyssey" full of historical details today. Zhongwei has become a famous tourist destination, just like the myth of the new media era in the 21st century. Many reality shows are filmed here, making this once unknown border town the biggest hot spot in Ningxia.

What's more, there are some things worth seeing here: Gao Miao, one of the existing large-scale ancient buildings in Ningxia, has unique pavilions.

The desert oases on both sides of baotou-lanzhou railway are miracles of human sand control projects, and we have to see them. You can also ride a camel through the Tengger Desert to get rid of annoying entertainment and feel the truly pure desert scenery under the stars.

Of course, there is the newly developed BB gathering place "Yellow River Crispy Chicken", which has introduced BB brands such as Xipo, Dale Wild, Xu Li, Feifei Chicken and Nan 'an. It has become the best holiday resort in the whole northwest region.

Zhongwei

zhongwei is centered on the Drum Tower and divided into four streets: east, west, south and north. The main attractions, shopping malls, hotels and pedestrian streets are basically concentrated around the Drum Tower. It takes only 1 minutes to walk from the Drum Tower to the north railway station, and the charming Yellow River cabin is on the south bank of the Yellow River, which is more than 2 minutes' drive from the city center.

High Temple

Gulou North Street, free of charge

This exquisite high temple has been standing in the city center since the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. Layers of pavilions are magnificent from afar, and many brick carvings and wood carvings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties have unique shapes. It is an ancient architectural complex integrating Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

As soon as you enter the gate, the king of fists and swords on both sides of the archway and the columns with complicated layout will take the lead. After the Temple of the King, the brick archway on the high terrace is a major attraction. The Buddha is written in front of the "Supreme Bridge" and the "Wonderland" is written behind it. The carvings on the archway are very exquisite, such as lifelike The Journey to the West, concave-convex zodiac, flowers and birds, etc.

climbing is forbidden in the main building. On the east side of the King's Temple is the entrance to "Hell", which has a long history. But it was used as a bomb shelter before, which led to the destruction of all the original statues in hell. All kinds of scenes are modern reconstruction, equipped with sound and photoelectric facilities. Some scenes are scary and timid. There are 18 lifelike Luohan statues on the west side of Luohan Hall, which were also made in the 199s.

Drum Tower

Free

The Drum Tower in the city center is the landmark building of Zhongwei. At the center of the base is a cross-shaped doorway leading to four streets. The main building of the Drum Tower is a three-story double-eaved cross-resting peak with twelve corners on each floor, which is quite magnificent.

There are four small accompanying buildings, which add a sense of solemnity and richness. The Drum Tower is not open to the public, but when it is brightly lit at night, it is a "midnight snack" that strollers can't miss.

The Yellow River Palace

is located in the newly-built riverdance Cultural Theme Park in the east of the city. The building on the ground is a big blue water drop, and the museum is underground. It was briefly closed due to the flood of the Yellow River in 198, and now it has been reopened. With the help of advanced means such as multimedia interaction in museums, the geography, history and ecology of the nine provinces along the Yellow River are displayed.

Although most of the exhibits are replicas, there are some wonderful things, and you can also see some related rock paintings in the northern barley field of Zhongwei. Take bus No.5 west from Gulou to the apartment for the elderly, and then walk for 2 minutes.

Where to live

Yellow River Suji

Gray village houses and courtyards are scattered among fruit trees and grasslands, and the slow sound of the Yellow River never stops. There is a beautiful swimming pool, a professional coffee bar and a big bathtub where you can hear the sound of the Yellow River in the simple courtyard wall. Under the seemingly loess village house enclosure, several homestays are close and neighbors.

The Yellow River Hostel on the outskirts of Zhongwei has completely changed people's

It is obviously a natural experience for you to have a picnic or watch the stars in the ruins of the Great Wall and the depths of the desert. Le Ye Zhi has developed its own private hiking route, which gives you a chance to walk to the deserted Great Wall and desert. In fact, other homestays in the Yellow River Lodge have this service.

Among all homestays, the one closest to the Yellow River is Fei Fei Ji, who "grows" in romantic fruit trees. The clear and transparent glass building here is actually an environmentally-friendly prefabricated building, where you can sleep as much as you like and touch the gentle side of the northwest.

Around Zhongwei

The entrance to the temple

is located 2km south of Xuanhe Town, Zhongwei. The canyon scenery and Danxia landform are mixed together, and rock climbing is also allowed. The scenic spot is divided into two parts, east and west, which are 1.5 kilometers apart. The Danxia landform in the western scenic spot is quite attractive, and the cliffs, dangerous roads and suspension bridges add a lot of interest. According to legend, this was once the place where Su Wu herded sheep, and there was a cave where he lived on the cliff.

As a good rock climbing base, climbers can try their hand here (they need to make an appointment one day in advance) and climb to the top of the mountain. The vast loess gully landform is very spectacular. The East Scenic Area is famous for its canyon rock landscape. Gu Dao is very narrow, and there is a "skyline" in the valley. There are 9-meter-high fairy footprints on the cliff at the entrance. You must climb up and down the cliff with your hands and feet. You will have a lot of fun after the adventure.

Peak season (April 1st to October 31st)

Low season (November 1st to March 31st)

Where did Dad go? Shapotou has been transformed from a popular scenic spot in some areas into a national scenic spot for online celebrities. There are so many people here in the peak season, and the praise and bad reviews can almost be tied. Deserts and the Yellow River enrich the wallets of businessmen and local people. Some people spend money for fun, and some people call it a desert playground with various fees without mercy. However, it is undeniable that the innate resource advantage here is. The vast Tengger desert came to an abrupt end here; The rushing Yellow River took a sharp turn, changed from rough to gentle.

baotou-lanzhou railway, the first desert railway in China, runs through it, and the wheat straw square around it bears witness to the miracle of human sand control project. The scenic spot is divided into two parts by baotou-lanzhou railway, with the Yellow River in the south and Tengger Desert in the north. The car from Zhongwei stops at the east gate of the scenic spot, which is the southern district.

Shapotou has designed a well-developed and profitable route for tourists from the entrance. Yellow River sheepskin raft speedboat combination, Yellow River flying rope and speedboat can all be tried. If you want to experience more exciting games, you can also choose sand skiing, bungee jumping and hang gliding.

In the off-season, only conventional events such as sheepskin rafting and camel riding are open. What if I just want to see the desert and the Yellow River and don't want to pay? After entering from the east gate, follow the direction of the battery car to Shaquan Square and take the desert elevator (including one-way admission) to the top of the sand dam. Here, you can see the first bay of the Yellow River, the landmark landscape, and the ancient Great Wall and the mountains opposite the Yellow River when it is sunny. It is also a good place to watch the sunset.

don't covet the scenery in front of you. Cross baotou-lanzhou railway and enter the North District. You can also take the Shaguan ancient road into the desert without spending a penny, and then go to the depths of Tengger Desert. Here, the sand sea is boundless, the Tao Jin is undulating, there are no messy footprints or rut marks, only a smooth and beautiful arc. Shapotou is located on the southeast edge of Tengger. The farther you go, the more you can get in touch with the truly charming Tengger singer. The natural scenery is much more beautiful.

Walk 8.3km from the north area to the depths of Tengger Desert, and you can reach Tonghu Grassland. Shapotou provides self-driving cross-country crossing the desert. The desert museum in the south gate introduces the world and domestic desert knowledge.

If you take a taxi or drive back to the city from Shapotou, you can choose to go to Golden Sand Island Tourist Area (it will be closed at other times from early April to late November). The main attraction is the pastoral scenery brought by large tracts of lavender and various flowers, which are very popular in summer in recent years and suitable for taking pictures.

Desert can also sing

If you come to Shapotou on a sunny summer day, you will hear a strange sound of "hum-hum-",which is like a bell. Locals call it "singing the desert". There is no authoritative scientific explanation for Shapotou Bell. Some people say it's because the sand contains seasonality. When the slope is steep, sand makes sound through pressure friction. Others say it is because there is water at the bottom of the sand dune. When the surface temperature of the sand dune is very high, the hot air on the sand surface will be pressed down when sliding, and the cold air at the bottom of the sand dune will rise again. When two air streams collide, a bell-shaped sound is produced.

Shapotou Traffic

Bus No.2 from Zhongwei Bus Station to Shapotou (1 hour and 2 minutes) passes the intersection of Great Wall West Street and stops at Shapotou East Gate. If you take a taxi from zhongwei, you can take a taxi directly to the entrance of the North Zone, play the North Zone first, then the South Zone, and then go back by car. In the peak season, there is a shuttle bus from Yinchuan Station to Shapotou.
