Why are Japan’s narrow capsule hotels so popular among young people?
With the gradual development of the tourism industry, many industries have slowly followed this trend and become more and more popular. For example, some local snacks and delicacies can be passed down and passed on because of the arrival of outsiders. I have made a lot of money, as well as in the transportation industry and the hotel industry. Nowadays, there are no less than dozens of large and small hotels in every city. Sometimes it is not uncommon to have three hotels on one street.
In order to attract more customers, hotels nowadays have launched many different suites. Some are themed suites, specially designed for young couples, and others are more... There are innovative rooms. For example, when I was abroad, I saw cliff hotels standing on the edge of the cliff. There were also hotels located halfway up Mount Everest, and hotels where you could watch the aurora starry sky. The Blue Lagoon Hotel in Iceland and more. And what we are going to talk about today is a unique hotel that we have seen in Japan before, called "Capsule Hotel".
The so-called capsule hotel, as the name suggests, is a hotel similar to a capsule shape. This concept was proposed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa at the 1985 International Science and Technology Expo. This kind of "hotel" room , it is actually a cabin that is two meters long and one meter high. People can only sleep in it, but the equipment inside can basically meet the requirements for one person's accommodation. There is air conditioning, lighting, lockers, etc. The only thing The disadvantage may be that it is relatively narrow.
If those of us who are used to sleeping in large bed rooms sleep in them, we probably won’t be able to get used to it. However, what is surprising is that the small capsule hotel is so popular among young people. Like, why is this? In fact, there are three main reasons!
First: Capsule hotels in Japan are much cheaper than hotels. If you have traveled to Tokyo, you will find that the price of hotels in Tokyo is generally more than 500 yuan a night. This price is not suitable for tourists. It may be normal for us tourists, but it may be difficult for people living in Tokyo to accept it. Therefore, in order to adapt to the times, many people will choose capsule hotels that are much cheaper.
Second: Japanese people are used to a small environment. People in our country like big things in everything. When buying a house, they like to buy a big one, not an exquisite one. So for us, If the room is too small, you will feel very depressed, but the Japanese are different. Due to the small amount of land and the large number of people in Japan, many people have lived in a relatively small environment since childhood. Therefore, for them, the space of a capsule hotel is relatively small. in line with the environment they live in every day.
Third point: Convenience. Capsule hotels in Japan are already very popular and can be found in basically many places. This is a good thing for many Japanese guys who work overtime. After working overtime every day , you can go directly to the capsule hotel to stay for one night, and go directly to work after waking up. It is cheap and convenient, and also avoids the problem of insufficient commuting time.
