Wutai Mountain is a famous Buddhist resort at home and abroad, and it is the Dojo of Manjusri Bodhisattva. Wutai Mountain has a long history of building temples and a large scale, ranking first among the four famous Buddhist mountains, so it is known as the Golden Wutai Mountain. Wutai Mountain, together with Lumbini Garden in Nepal, Luoguyuan, Bodhgaya and Naga in India, is also known as the five Buddhist holy places in the world, and enjoys a high reputation in Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal and other countries. Wutaishan Temple was built in Han Dynasty. Due to the prosperity of Manjusri belief in the Tang Dynasty, there were more than 360 temples. Wutai is said to be the earliest site of Taoism. In Taoist classics, Wutai Mountain is called Zifu Mountain, and there was once a Zifu Mountain. According to the records in Liangshan, Liang Qing, when Manjusri Bodhisattva of Buddhism first came to China, she lived in a cave with a stone basin in the metaphysical view of Taoism, indicating that Wutai Mountain was occupied by Taoism at that time.

Buddhism was introduced into Wutai Mountain, which generally began in the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to historical records, in December of the 10th year of Yongping (AD 67), the messenger sent by Emperor Han Ming to the Western Regions to seek dharma came to Luoyang with two Indian monks Morton and Zhu Falan. In the 11th year of Yongping, Mo Teng and Zhu Falan came to Wutai Mountain (then called Liang Qing) from Luoyang. They wanted to build a temple here because there was a pagoda of Asoka on the mountain for a long time, and Wutai Mountain was also the place where Manjusri Bodhisattva lectured, but because Wutai Mountain was a Taoist base at that time, it was quite crowded out, so they learned about Emperor Han Ming. In order to distinguish Buddhism from Taoism, the Han court invited monks and Taoists to perform, explain and verify, so the two sides reached an agreement to burn scriptures to distinguish the authenticity (it is said that the place where scriptures were burned is in Xi 'an today). As a result, all the Taoist scriptures were burned, but the Buddhist scriptures were intact, so they got the right to build temples.

2. Wutai Mountain Scenic Area-Nanshan Temple

brief introduction

Nanshan Temple is a big temple in Wutai Mountain, which was built in Yuan Dynasty. The whole temple has seven floors. Its scale is second to none in Wutai Mountain, hanging on a steep hillside, adding grandeur.

The whole building complex of Nanshan Temple consists of seven floors and three parts. The lower three floors are called Gokurakuji, the upper three floors are called Youguo Temple, and the middle floor is called Shande Hall. The temple was built in Liangchong and Yuan Dynasty. It's called "the Great Sage's Youguo Temple". It was rebuilt in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, and it was named Blissful Residence. 3. Wannian Ice Cave

7. Wutai Mountain Scenic Area-Tayuan Temple

Tayuan Temple is one of the five famous Buddhist temples in Wutai Mountain. Tayuan Temple has the landmark building of Wutai Mountain-the Great White Pagoda, which is white all over. There are more than 200 bronze bells hanging on the top of the tower, and the sound is crisp and pleasant. The tower rose from the ground and stood high in the air. The Great White Pagoda is also an idol in the eyes of pilgrims. Pilgrims often make vows around the White Pagoda, chanting scriptures or kowtowing while walking and touching Falun Gong. When Mongolian and Tibetan Buddhists come to Wutai Mountain, they must first worship the Great White Pagoda and the first monument of the Five Saints of Tayuan Temple.

8. Wutai Mountain Scenic Area-Dailuoding

brief introduction

Dailuoding is a temple, located in the east of the temple complex in the center of Taihuai Town. On the top of Dailuoding on the steep half ridge, Manjusri Bodhisattva is enshrined. You can walk to Daluoding or take a cableway. Ordinary tourists will choose a step road, called "big branch road", with 1080 steps and a total length of about 500 meters. Believers believe that this is a road of wisdom, and people who walk through this road can become smart and increase their wisdom. Looking up from the foot of the mountain, I saw another hill towering halfway up the mountain. The gate and archway of the temple at the top of the mountain are surrounded by trees, which are often shrouded in clouds. The mountain is shaped like a big snail. In midsummer, the vegetation is lush, so the temple at the top of the mountain is called the big snail top, also known as the black snail top. The ancient temple is called Foding Temple.

The temple was built in Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty, and it was built in Qianlong fifteen years (1750), and there was also a stone tablet on the top of Daluo. Dai Luoding concentrated five statues of Manjusri Bodhisattva on five terraces. 9. Wutai Mountain Scenic Area-Bodhisattva Peak

Bodhisattva Peak is located on the spiritual Jiu Feng of Wutai Mountain. According to legend, it is Manjusri residence, so it is also called Zhenrong Garden, also known as Manjusri Hall.

Founded in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was rebuilt in previous dynasties. After Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, Mongols and Tibetans settled in Wutai Mountain, and the Dalai Lama lived in Bodhisattva Peak, so Bodhisattva Peak became the head of the Huangmiao Temple in Wutai Mountain.

Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited Wutai Mountain several times, stayed at the top of Bodhisattva and wrote inscriptions. In the hall and backyard of the East Courtyard, there are two white marble quadrangular stone tablets, and the four sides of the stone tablets are engraved with inscriptions written in Chinese, Mongolian, Manchu and Tibetan, all written by Emperor Kangxi.

Luya Mountain Scenic Area is located at the northern end of Luliang Mountain, in the hinterland of northwest Shanxi.
