Green Island is surrounded by skirt coral reefs, steep platform cliffs near the sea, eroded by seawater, magnificent rocks and natural scenery, which constitute special landscape resources. At the southern end of the bay, there is a huge rock landscape, such as "Pug" and "Sleeping Beauty". Xuhai Hot Spring, near the sail head in the southeast of the island, is a rare natural underwater salty hot spring, also known as Asahi Hot Spring. At present, such hot springs are only available in Kyushu, Japan and northern Italy, so they are regarded as rare. Located on the east coast of the island, the Great Lakes Hot Spring is a sulfur spring, which has no irritation to human skin. The average water temperature is about 70℃, which is submerged by seawater at high tide and the water temperature drops. At low tide, the hot springs are exposed, and the temperature of the spring water rises, so it is not suitable for soaking at this time. In order to expand the use of the hot spring pool, the management department has now built a hot spring area, making it a natural bath with seawater.

Green Island used to be a prison in the 1970s and 1980s, holding all the felons in Taiwan's history. As we all know, the famous writer Xiangyang and others were imprisoned for wanting to commit a crime. The prisoner riot described in the early movie "Fire Island" is a historical story here, which left a deep impression on the audience.

The population is about 3,202 (2003).

The scenic spots of Green Island are all distributed along the highway around the island, with a total length of about 19 km, about 4 hours' walk and only 40 minutes' ride by motorcycle. In the northwest, Zhongliao and Nanliao villages are densely populated places. There are many ships coming in and out of Nanliao Port, and shops full of sightseeing atmosphere are connected in Nanliao Street. Zhongliao village has an airport, a tourist center and a lighthouse, which is a lively scene.

The eastern and southern parts of Green Island are rugged mountains, which extend clockwise from the roundabout road in Zhongliao Village. First, it saw the scenic spots around Niutou Mountain and entered Guangong Village along the coast. Along the way, there are natural wonders such as Jiangjunyan, Niutou Mountain, Yanzi Cave and Guanyin Cave, as well as artificial scenery such as skill training institute and reservoir appreciation. Guanyin Cave is named after a strange stone that looks like Guanyin. Grapefruit Lake, south of Guanyin, is the earliest developed settlement, which has important historical significance, and its situation facing the mountains and the sea and huge sea caves can also be seen. The highway starts to climb from the back of grapefruit lake, and the highest point is the step trail named Little Great Wall. The best place to enjoy Sleeping Beauty Rock and Pug Dog Rock is nearby. After that, the highway went out to sea, and soon it reached the world-class Asahi Hot Springs, surrounded by sailboat nose grassland, Ziping lagoon area, camping area and so on. , are all places to go; After that, I returned to Guiwan on the west coast. Because of the steep mountain wall and the highway that I crossed, I got the reputation of Taroko Pavilion in miniature. I bypassed the nose of Guiwan and returned to Nanliao Port, which is just around the island.

The beautiful underwater world of Green Island is a paradise for divers. Shi Lang, Zhongliao, Chaikou, Youzi Lake, Daba Mountain and Guiwan are all ideal diving places. However, a large number of corals have suffered great damage under the trampling of tourists. In view of this, Dongguan has set up plank road diving paths in Shi Lang, Chaikou and Dabaisha to protect corals. Diving activities in Green Island can be roughly divided into three types: one is snorkeling in the offshore, and everyone can participate without a license; Furthermore, you can carry an oxygen device and connect it to a deeper sea area by boat for deep diving, but you must have a diving license; Towing a boat and snorkeling means dragging people to deeper waters with a boat, and then snorkeling in general, so you can see more surprises. There are many rental shops for diving equipment on the island, ranging from simple equipment for snorkeling to gas stations for deep diving. And restaurants and shops can also handle diving, which is very convenient.

If you want to feel the underwater scenery at close range, you can also use submarines and glass-bottomed boats. Haiyan-1 submarine is a 1 fully submersible sightseeing submarine in Taiwan Province province. It looks at the waters of Nanliao Bay through a large observation window. Each voyage lasts for 60 minutes, and there is a special person on board to explain along the way. More than 100 years ago, sika deer was introduced to Green Island. The precious velvet antler has helped the people of Green Island through years of poverty and hardship, and has become a popular sideline. The township office even entrusted sika deer as public property to the people's family care. Deer grass (amaranth) planted in the whole island is a unique agricultural landscape of Green Island. After that, sika deer raised in the wild will be released into the mountains to create a new sika deer paradise. If tourists enter the mountains at night or early in the morning, they may meet unexpectedly!
