The place where I live and work-the new field of Millennium ancient town

Xinchang Ancient Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai is where I have lived and worked for more than 20 years. I have some feelings for it, and I have witnessed its rapid changes for more than 20 years. This ancient water town has a modern flavor of life. The residents living in the ancient town are real Pudong people. Their ancestors have lived in this ancient land for generations, cooking at sunrise and returning at sunset, making a living by drying salt, fishing and farming. The life of modern newcomers has been integrated with the life of urban people, enjoying the government's policy of benefiting the people and enjoying happiness, medical care and old-age life!

I remember when I came to Xinchang, I heard that the place was called Xinchang. But walking on the old street paved by Qingshiban Road, I feel that the place name is wrong and I am very curious. When I saw the original green tiles and white walls, rivers, pavilions, teahouses, Qian Qiu Bridge, Wanfuqiao and other stone arch bridges in the market, I felt like a water town in the south of the Yangtze River in my dream.

I was just curious about the word "Xinchang" and asked the local grandmother. From her answer, she only knew that Xinchang town used to be called stalagmite, and that the salt-making land moved to this place hundreds of years ago, and it was called Xinchang, later referred to as Xinchang.

I really know the history of Xinchang, because I know a senior editor of Xinchang Daily, Mr. Shen, who is from Xinchang. At one of his communication meetings, he gave me two books written by himself through in-depth folk investigation. After reading the book, I have a new understanding of the history of Xinchang.

Xinchang, called "Stalagmite Beach" and "Stalagmite Lane" in ancient times, was established in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, nearly 1300 years ago. In the fourth year of Yuan Dade (1300), Xiasha (Shasha) saltworks moved south to Shisunli Town at that time, and the port was turned into a new saltworks, which was renamed as "Xinchang" from then on. In the early Yuan Dynasty, Songjiang Branch of Zhejiang Salt Transportation Company also moved to Xinchang.

Xinchang, located in the south-central Pudong New Area, covers an area of 53.86 square kilometers and has a population of 65,438+10,000. More than a thousand years ago, Xinchang was located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, which embraced the East China Sea. Wang Yang and Wanli Yangtze River flowed eastward, nourishing everything and changing everything. After the river receded, sediment was left behind. At the same time, supported by Qiantang River, water retreats into land, which is also the south gate facing the East China Sea.

Xinchang is the condensation in the history of Pudong, and it is also the largest historical and cultural area with the richest historical background in Pudong.

1300 years ago was a piece of the king; Eight hundred years ago, the rich salt field rose here; Five hundred years ago, it was an idyllic place where agriculture and mulberry trees flourished.
