Geography of Gessamet Island

Koh Samui is located in the southwest of the Gulf of Thailand, about 35 kilometers northeast of Surat Thani. Koh Samui is roughly circular, with a width of about 2 1km at the widest point, 25 km at the longest point and an average width of about 15km, surrounded by about 60 islands. Koh Samui and these islands together constitute Muko Ang Thong National Park. The central part of the island is covered by almost uninhabited alpine forest (locally known as Kaupeng), with the highest point of 635 meters above sea level. The remaining lowlands are connected by a highway with a length of 5 1 km and several coastlines.

The former capital of Koh Samui is Natong, which is located on the northwest coast of the island and is still the main port for fishing and ferry services. Na Tong is the seat of the local government and the local commercial center, and the old China store on the street is one of the features. And every beach on the island will be regarded as a small town, because there will always be many hotels, restaurants and nightclubs near the beach.
