Is Xichang a tourist city?
Xichang City is located in the southwest of Sichuan Province, in the middle section of the Anning River. It is the capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, which has the largest number of Yi people in the country. It is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the state.
The Chairman of the Committee and the Military Commissariat went to the palace. After the founding of New China, it belonged to Xichang Prefecture of Xikang Province. In 1978, the organizational structure of Xichang District was revoked and merged into Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. In 1980, Xichang City was newly established. In 1986, Xichang County was abolished and merged into Xichang City. There are more than 10 ethnic groups living in the territory, including Han, Yi, Hui, Mongolian, Tibetan, Manchu and Miao.
Xichang is an open city and tourist area approved by the State Council. Known as the "Scenic Spot in Southern Sichuan", Lushan Mountain stands on the south bank of Qionghai Lake with a main peak of 2377.5 meters. There are dense Yunnan pines on the mountain, as well as well-preserved rare ancient trees such as yellow cedar, Chinese cypress and Tang cypress. Hidden in the forest are Han and Tang dynasties. There are more than ten ancient temples and temples such as the Yinxi Temple built in the Ming Dynasty on the mountain; at the foot of the mountain there is the rare earthquake stele forest in the country and the Liangshan Yi Slave Society Museum. Famous landscapes within the city include the ancient white pagoda built by King Jingzhuang of Nanzhao in the city, the statue commemorating the Red Army's Long March to form an alliance over the Yi Sea, and the large-scale steel cast - The Daughter of the Moon - based on the folk tale of the Yi people. In addition, there are strange peaks, high waterfalls, primeval forests that block the sun, well-preserved Luoji Mountain scenery with ancient glacier relics, and various lifelike Huanglian soil forests; it is also a world-famous satellite launch base.
