Can I stay in a hotel without an ID card?

In China, passports, ID cards, household registration books, military officers' cards and passes are valid check-in registration documents stipulated by the Public Security Bureau, while student ID cards, driver's licenses and temporary residence permits cannot be registered as valid documents in regular hotels.

Because, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security, when you check into a hotel, the front desk must scan your documents and send all your information to the local police station. You cannot register without an authoritative certificate.

A valid certificate usually refers to a certificate issued by the law enforcement department of the government at or above the county level that can prove the identity of a natural person or a legal person. Including;

Resident ID card, temporary id card.

Military officer's card.

Armed police officer's card.

Soldier's card.

Cadet card.

Certificate of military civilian cadres.

Certificate of retired military cadres.

Military work permit.

Passport.
