What are the common physical disinfection methods in duck farms?

There are four common physical disinfection methods in duck farms: natural purification, mechanical sterilization, ultraviolet sterilization and thermal sterilization.

(1) Natural purification refers to the gradual killing of pathogenic microorganisms that pollute the air, the ground and the surface of objects through sun exposure, rain, wind blowing, drying, temperature, humidity, sterilization substances in the air, dilution of water and change of pH value without manual disinfection. This purification function of nature is simple and easy, and the cost is extremely low, but it is harmless to people and ducks. Commonly used in duck houses, utensils, padding and drinking water. However, the disadvantage of this natural purification is that it takes too long and the disinfection effect is not very reliable, so it should be used in conjunction with manual disinfection.

(2) Mechanical disinfection is a method to remove harmful microorganisms on the surface of objects, air, water, people and ducks by means of mechanical disinfection, sweeping, brushing, washing, eradication and ventilation. Although this method can't completely eliminate or kill pathogenic microorganisms, it can greatly reduce the number and reduce the chance of duck infection, and at the same time, it can also remove the dirt and feces on the surface of duck houses and utensils, laying a good foundation for the next chemical disinfection. When using this method, it must be carefully and comprehensively cleaned, and there can be no fecal spots and sundries visible to the naked eye. Garbage after cleaning and sewage after washing should be properly handled, and it is not allowed to dump or place it at will. Otherwise, these wastes will pollute the surrounding environment of duck house, which will not only give up all previous efforts, but even expand the pollution area.

(3) Ultraviolet lamps are commonly used for ultraviolet disinfection, and the ultraviolet lamps should be wiped clean frequently to avoid dust and reduce the penetration of ultraviolet rays. Don't look directly at the ultraviolet lamp when using it, so as to avoid eye swelling and pain, and people can't work under ultraviolet light for a long time. Ultraviolet disinfection is often used to disinfect the air and work clothes at the entrance of hatching room, brooding room, sick duck isolation room and duck house.

(4) Thermal disinfection is the most reliable disinfection method, which can kill all microorganisms. This method is divided into dry heat and wet heat disinfection. Dry heat disinfection is to burn dead ducks, contaminated clothes, garbage, feces, ground and some metal utensils by flame. Wet-heat disinfection includes boiling and high-pressure steam sterilization, which is often used to disinfect syringes and high-temperature resistant appliances.
