How did Lu Mansion in Shaoxing become the former residence of Wang Yangming?
It has not become the former residence of Wang Yangming.
Shaoxing Lu Mansion is the residence of Lu Kui, an official of the Ming Dynasty. It was built in the middle of the Ming Dynasty. It is located on the top of Wolong Mountain in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. It was built by Yan Song, a powerful official in the Ming Dynasty, and was later burned down. The Lu Mansion we see now was rebuilt on the original site by the descendants of the Lu family during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. The ruins of Wang Yangming's former residence are located south of Shangda Road, east of Xixiaohe, west of Wang's Office and north of Lu Mansion in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. Starting from mid-May 2020, with the approval of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology and the Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology will conduct archaeological excavations at the site of Wang Yangming’s former residence. Therefore, the ruins of Shaoxing's Lu Mansion and Wang Yangming's former residence are two different historical sites, and there is no situation in which Lu Mansion became Wang Yangming's former residence.
