Hotel star rating standard

Hotel associations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland have recently reached a consensus and decided to conduct star rating for hotels in the three countries according to unified standards. Austria and Germany can start the evaluation according to the new standards next year, and Switzerland will start this work on 20 1 1.

Except Norway and Finland, all European countries rate hotels according to 1 -5 stars, and some places rate them as 6-star hotels, but "6-star" has not been recognized by the government. Due to the different star standards in different countries, the current star rating is very chaotic. The same three-star hotel will be very different in different European countries. The European Union has always wanted to formulate a unified star standard, but its efforts to formulate a unified standard have so far failed because European countries with higher standards are worried about lowering the star standard. In recent years, the World Tourism Organization also wants to introduce a unified star standard, but the resistance is not small. The unified evaluation standard of Austria and Thailand was issued under this background.

So far, there are nearly 50 hotel star parameters, but Audrey has reached 270 star parameters. Some are hard indicators. For example, the sheets of 3-star hotels should be changed at least twice a week, 4-star hotels must have bars, and 5-star hotels must have more than 2 suites. The Audrey Hotel Association emphasizes that the purpose of formulating a unified star standard is to end the current chaotic situation of star rating. The star rating system of the three countries is open, and other EU countries are welcome to participate.
