Which palace did Cixi live in?

Cixi lived in Chuxiu Palace.

In the second year of Xianfeng (AD 1852), when Cixi first entered the palace and was named Yi Guiren (also known as Lan Guiren), she lived in Lijingxuan of Chuxiu Palace. Then she was named Yibi, and in March of the sixth year of Xianfeng (1856), she gave birth to Zaichun (the Emperor Tongzhi) in Lijingxuan. In the tenth year of Guangxu (AD 1884), Empress Dowager Cixi, who had already lived in Changchun Palace, moved to this palace to celebrate her fiftieth birthday and renovated the palace, spending 630,000 taels of silver. The inscription on the wall of the corridor in the courtyard is the "Longevity without Borders" poem written by the ministers at that time to wish Cixi a happy birthday.

Chuxiu Palace is the most important palace in Cixi’s life. It is worth considering that Cixi moved to Chuxiu Palace on her 50th birthday. First, Cixi made her fortune here. Her only political capital, Emperor Tongzhi, was born in the back hall of Chuxiu Palace, which was the real political capital for her to seize power. Second, Cixi entered the palace at the age of seventeen. Her youth was buried here, and there are memories everywhere. Third, I am very attached to Emperor Xianfeng, and I will never forget the kindness of the late Emperor to me.

Chuxiu Palace is the most exquisite palace among the Six Western Palaces. In the courtyard of Chuxiu Palace, there are two vigorous ancient cypresses; there are a pair of bronze dragons and a pair of bronze deer under the platform base. The oil decorations on the outer eaves of Chuxiu Palace are made of "Su-style paintings" with elegant colors, with themes such as flowers, birds, fish and insects, landscapes, figures, and fairy tales; the doors and windows are all carved from fine-textured nanmu with the patterns of "Wanfu Longshou" and "Five Blessings Holding Longevity".
