Liu Heng is located at the southern tip of the Yangtze River estuary, in the southern waters of Zhoushan Islands, outside Xiangshan Port, and belongs to Putuo District of Zhoushan City. He Chuan, a famous poet and writer, once served in the 2 1 regiment of the former coastal defense forces in Zhousheng fortress area. Liu Heng Town consists of 105 islands, including Liuheng Island, Fodu Island, Xuanshan Island and Yanwa Island.

Among them, Liuheng Island is the seat of Liu Heng Town Government. The land area of the whole island is 1 18.8 square kilometers (20 17), making it the third largest island in Zhoushan archipelago. There are six mountains on the island, which straddle them in turn, hence the name Liu Heng.

Liu Heng is located in the south of Zhoushan Islands in Zhejiang Province. Located in the southeast coast of China, south of the Yangtze River estuary, on the outer edge of Hangzhou Bay, on the east sea surface of Xiangshan Bay in Ningbo. Backed by Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo and other large and medium-sized urban agglomerations and the vast hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, facing the Pacific Ocean, it has a strong geographical advantage. It is located at the intersection of China's north-south coastal routes and the Yangtze River waterway. Liu Heng is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone in the eastern part of the mainland and belongs to the northern subtropical maritime monsoon climate. There are four distinct seasons throughout the year, long in winter and summer, short in spring and autumn, and it has the characteristics of maritime climate with no heat in summer, no severe cold in winter, small annual temperature difference, abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall and warm and humid. As an island town, Liu Heng is rich in port resources, with a total coastline of 85.05 kilometers, of which-10 meter is deep, with a certain hinterland supporting coastline of 36.3 kilometers and a deep water area of more than 40 square kilometers.
