Yajiang is the abbreviation of Yarlung Zangbo River! Yalong River is a river in the west of Sichuan Province, China. It is a tributary of Jinsha River in the upper reaches of Yangtze River. Originated in the southern foothills of Bayan Kara, Qinghai Province, it flows southeast into the northwest of Sichuan Province, and Ganzi is hereinafter called Yalong River. It flows into Jinsha River along the west side of Daxueshan Mountain through Xinlong, Yajiang and other counties to Yunnan border cities. Length 1,187km, drainage area144,000km2. The current is swift and the water resources are abundant. Yalong River was called Ruoshui and Lushui in ancient times. Because it resembles its mother Jinsha River, it is also called "Little Golden Jiang Sha". The Yalong River originates between Ni Jannack Mountain and Donglagang Mountain in Bayankala, Qinghai. The white snow and ice melted and merged into a trickle, which became its upper source "Zhaqu". When it entered Sichuan near shiqu county, its official name was Yalong River.
