English marks on wine bottles

There are often some English marks on wine bottles to indicate the quality of the wine. Different countries have different expressions.

France's "Wine Law" stipulates that only a few specific grape varieties are planted in a few places in Charente and Charente-sur-mer, and the distilled wine obtained by direct fire distillation in pots is still stored in oak barrels. After several years of aging, it is approved to use the "cognac" trademark. In other areas, distilled liquor brewed by the same method cannot be named "Korneck".

For example, on bottles of cognac in France, you can often see the following signs:

Three stars, stored for less than 4.5 years.

Very good old pale brandy. Brandy stored for at least 4.5 years is lighter in color.

V.S.O.D Very superior old black (wine is stored in wooden barrels, which absorbs tannins dissolved in wooden barrels and turns the wine from colorless to brown. The longer the time, the darker the wine color, hence the name.
