Is there anything delicious and fun near Fuzhou Shangri-La Hotel?

Next to Shangri-La Hotel is Wuyi Square, which is a good place for Fuzhou citizens to take a leisurely walk. There are flag-raising and lowering ceremonies on weekdays. I just strolled around the square and saw the statue of Chairman Mao and Fuzhou by the fountain. The city logo sculpture is still very good.

There are also many places to eat and play around. Xianshi upstairs has Chinese and Western food, which is relatively affordable, and of course KFC also has it.

There is a cinema in the Fujian Grand Theater opposite Wuyi Square. If you want to watch a movie, you can go there.

Another recommended place is that if you are not in a hurry, Yushan Mountain behind Chairman Mao’s Statue is actually a very good place. Although the mountain is not high, there are many historical sites, especially after the opening of Baita Temple. Take a close look at the White Pagoda built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, which was once one of Fuzhou's landmark buildings. Walk along the highway from Baita Temple to the top of the statue. Along the way, there are pavilions, pavilions, and trees. The scenery is pretty good. In history, many people such as Qi Jiguang, Xin Qiji, and Yu Dafu have been here. There is also the Fuzhou Revolution of 1911. You can also visit the memorial hall. They are all free and of course only open during the day. You can go up the mountain from one side of Baita Temple, go down the other side, ask for directions, and then turn back to May Day Square. If you take your time, you can spend 2-3 hours here.

Sanfangqixiang is also an option. It is actually not far from the hotel. Even a walk only takes about 15 minutes. Of course, it is safer to take a taxi. This is a complex of ancient residential buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, typical of the Minyue style. There are many shops selling specialty products in the South Back Street. If you are interested, you can take a taxi to visit the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall on Macau Road. It is very nice and free. Yes, walk a few dozen meters further and you’ll find South Back Street. On both sides of South Back Street are Sanfang and Qixiang, which you can visit together.
