How to draw a room floor plan using CAD

Method/Steps

Here I take CAD2007 as an example, open CAD2007. Let’s get familiar with the CAD tool panel.

The tool panel is displayed on the left and right sides of CAD. When the mouse is placed on a certain tool, its name will be displayed. The specific usage will be introduced below.

First of all, we need to measure the dimensions of the room, and after drawing a sketch, we can start making it. Let's first look at how to draw a straight line. The first thing in the tool panel on the left is the straight line. Here you should pay attention to select "Orthogonal" to draw a straight line. If "Orthogonal" is not turned on, you will draw a diagonal line. The areas framed in red in the picture are what we need to pay attention to.

Click the straight line button, click randomly in the blank space, and then move the mouse in any of the four directions. The value can be entered directly (in millimeters). After entering the value, press the "Enter key" "That's it.

Walls are generally represented by double lines. To change a single line into a double line, we can use the "Offset" tool, click "Offset" and enter the value to be offset (generally, the external wall is 240mm). Click the "Enter key" and a small box will appear. Move the mouse and place the small box on the line you just drew. Hold it down without releasing it. Then move the mouse down to any position and release the mouse. A line exactly like it will appear. , the spacing is the value just entered.

Use the same method to draw other lines. Be sure to save them while drawing, to prevent the computer from shutting down suddenly and all your efforts will be in vain.

The arc is useful here. The sixth one on the left toolbar is "Arc". An arc is composed of three points.

After everything is drawn, it is necessary to For dimensioning, the dimensioning is in the right toolbar. If not, just "right-click" in the blank space of the right toolbar - move the mouse to "ACAD" - and the toolbar options will appear. Click "Annotation" and it will appear. As for the annotation toolbar, I won’t go into how to set annotations here. I will write a separate article introducing annotation settings in the future, so please pay attention.

When dimensioning, you need to use "Object Snap". We need to set up "Object Snap". Right-click on "Object Snap" and the settings will appear. Generally, you need to set "Drop Foot, Break" Point, Endpoint, Circle Center, Node, Intersection" are all checked. Once selected, click Confirm.

It will be much more convenient for us to mark it below. After marking it, we can beautify the drawing and put some sofas, flowers and plants, etc. These models are all completed.
