Appreciation of characters in Lu Xun's "The Storm"

The ignorance and backwardness of Qijin, Qijin’s sister-in-law and others, as well as Zhao Qiye’s dream of restoration and his lack of learning and skills are all clearly shown in the dialogue. These dialogues are full of personality and local flavor, and the conflicts and plot development of the novel are often realized through dialogue.

For example, at the end of the first part, the conversation between Qijin and Qijin's sister-in-law about "the emperor wants braids" foreshadows the coming of the storm. In the third part, the conversation between the two about the emperor "not sitting in the Dragon Court" expresses The storm subsided. Another example is Mr. Zhao Qi's threats: "Those who keep their hair do not keep their hair, and those who keep their hair do not keep their hair" and "the soldiers are coming soon", and Mrs. Qijin's accusations and scoldings. These all pushed the development of the turmoil to a climax.

"The Storm" is a short story written by the modern writer Lu Xun in 1920 and included in the novel collection "The Scream". It reveals that the feudal monarchy still ruled the countryside at that time, and the peasants were ignorant and backward, lacking democracy and free ideas; and it also showed that future social revolutions would be difficult to succeed if they did not completely change the people's concepts.

Appreciation of the work

The novel uses line drawing techniques when describing the words, deeds, images and environment of the characters.

For example, it is written that Qijin controls his pipe and Zhao Qiye with different expressions in different situations, "as if holding a Yuan-shaped snake spear, taking a few steps towards Sister Bayi" is an action The description of Mr. Zhao Qi’s braid, long gown and Liu Jin’s “little girl” is a visual description, and the description of the conversation between Qi Jin and Qi Jin, and the old lady Jiu Jin’s “one generation is not as good as the last” is a verbal description... ..." These line drawings have successfully expressed the characters' psychology, personality and appearance.
