I study tourism management. Which is better, the hotel direction or the tour guide direction? How about employment? thank you

Do you divide these two directions?

Because you are a girl, you can choose more hotels than boys, from first-line catering waiters, front desk to second-line sales, human resources and finance.

Because I just graduated, I started at the grassroots level when I first entered the hotel. I must correct my thoughts. A lot of theoretical knowledge learned in school is not as useful as practical operation ability and problem-solving ability in hotels.

The promotion order of catering department is generally junior waiter, senior waiter, foreman, supervisor, manager and director.

It is also good for girls to go to the front desk to learn more. Especially to foreign hotels, you need to be fluent in English and have more opportunities to practice your spoken English. The promotion order is front desk, assistant manager of lobby and manager of lobby. One of my classmates worked as a receptionist in a four-star hotel after graduation, and after one year, he jumped to another hotel to be the first mate. By the way, if you think you are competent enough, but the hotel doesn't want to promote you, you can resign. The turnover rate of hotels is very high, which is normal. Job-hopping and promotion are much faster than hotels, but you can't jump blindly, just jump higher. Personal opinion, for reference only. )

Second-line sales also have higher requirements for spoken English and pay more attention to practical work experience. Because the sales task is more challenging, of course, it also earns a lot.

Human resources and finance are generally difficult to enter, but working in a hotel is a very comfortable job. One is that there are few things, and the other is that food and accommodation are free. The working meals in hotels are definitely much better than those in any other industry, and some hotels also include accommodation. But it's hard to get in. You must have relevant work experience and English level. If you decide to go to these two departments, you can find these two departments in a small hotel first, and then jump ship to a foreign-funded hotel after accumulating enough experience.

But you must not be eager for quick success. In the hotel, you must accumulate experience in a down-to-earth manner, which is really tiring.

If you are engaged in the hotel industry, foreign-funded five-star hotels will always be your best choice, the best promotion system, the best welfare treatment, and the best contact with the most advanced management concepts.

Apart from tour guides, studying tourism management means going to hotels or travel agencies, or going to tourism planning or tourism bureaus (rarely), and most of them change careers, hehe. There is a lot of knowledge about tour guides online, mainly depending on whether you like it or not. You can try to get a tour guide license. Some of my classmates quit after working for a while, and some like to continue working and earn a lot of money. In his original words, they earn at least 5000 yuan a month. As we all know, a good tour guide earns a lot of money, but that doesn't mean you can. My classmates basically have no basic salary and mainly rely on shopping.

You earn a lot of money on the ground, but you don't bet much on it, but it's not bad that you can play around with the team leader, especially with big foreign clubs. But English must be excellent. Now you have to learn English well in the foreign language tour guide exam one by one.

Foreign tour groups earn the most (as far as I know, there are a lot of tips alone, but European and American tour groups and Japanese tour groups can't)

Third, talk about the change of major. Only 14% of people in this major in our school are engaged in the tourism industry after graduation, and the rest have changed careers. Moreover, when civil servants take the exam, they basically don't recruit this major (professional restrictions), but only recruit tourism bureaus (extremely difficult to take the exam) or unlimited majors (too many people). But since you have studied this major, don't complain any more. There are many people whose major is different from your last job. The most important thing is yourself.

That's all I know anyway. Good luck ~
