The little fish in the swimming pool

Xu Renxin, Class 302

In the past, whenever the students asked : "Can you swim?" I didn't know how to answer. If I say "I don't know how," I'm afraid of being laughed at by my classmates. I really want to learn to swim, but I don't dare to go into the water. Until last summer, I was a "landlubber."

One day during the summer vacation last year, my father signed me up at the swimming pool of Zhenshi Hotel and asked me to learn swimming. At first, I was too afraid to swim, but my father insisted on learning. Under my father's coercion and inducement, I went to the locker room of Zhenshi Swimming Pool, put on my swimsuit, and entered the swimming pool.

When we started learning to swim, the teacher first taught us how to hold our breath. The first time I practiced holding my breath, I took a sip of "sour plum soup", which made me cough. When I was holding my breath for the second time, I took another sip of "sour plum soup". I thought I was really unlucky today! I drank two mouthfuls of water. Then, the teacher asked us to practice floating on the water. The first time I floated by myself with the support board, and the second time, the teacher helped us float. Let us take turns one by one. The teacher also said: "If anyone is not good, I will let go of my hand." When it was my turn, the teacher helped me to the middle of the pool, and then the teacher pulled me back to the edge of the pool. But I was so nervous that my mouth was shaking. When my father saw that I was shaking and shaking very badly, he picked me up. At the end, the teacher taught us to kick our feet. The teacher gave a demonstration and then asked us to do it one by one. It was my turn, and the teacher said, "Kick!" I kicked out. The teacher said I did a good job, and I suddenly gained confidence.

After a summer of hard training, I finally learned breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly... From then on, I gradually fell in love with swimming. Dad praised me and said: "You, this 'landlubber', have become a 'little fish' in the swimming pool."

Now, if you ask me again if I can swim , I would say: "I am a 'little fish' in the swimming pool."
