In the 1970s, a large number of educated youths from Dongtai, Shanghai and southern Jiangsu came to Dongtai Forest Farm to participate in the construction. They braved the wind and rain, traveled across the Dai Yue, experienced hardships, and pursued green dreams with youth and passion on the shores of the Yellow Sea.

The salt content of the beach is heavy, so it is difficult for conventional trees to grow. As a pioneer tree species, Robinia pseudoacacia has slow growth, low yield and low economic benefits. Forest farm people are trying to find tree species with good adaptability. Paulownia seedlings brought back from Lankao can't take root, and lacquer seedlings are allergic ... They are eyeing Metasequoia glyptostroboides, a national first-class protected plant. After the first batch of seedlings were planted, they were "burned to death" by salt and alkali in a few days. Forest rangers cut Metasequoia glyptostroboides branches, watered them carefully, drained them before irrigation, and covered the seedlings with wooden curtains, and finally cultivated Metasequoia glyptostroboides seedlings suitable for local growth. Bamboo, Populus davidiana, Ginkgo biloba ... Forest farm people have explored and worked hard all the way to make more and more suitable tree species take root and sprout in saline-alkali land.

The baton of afforestation by the sea has been passed down from generation to generation and has never slackened. Today, it has become the largest plain forest along the coast of China, with 68,000 mu of forest resources and a forest coverage rate of 90%. Metasequoia glyptostroboides and Ginkgo biloba promenade, which enjoy the reputation of "the most beautiful scenic road in Jiangsu", shuttle through it. The park is rich in animal and plant resources, with 628 species of plants and 342 species of birds. Millions of migratory birds spend the winter here every year, including rare birds such as spoonbill snipe, which is known as the "giant panda among birds". Now the Yellow Sea Forest Park and Ginkgo Avenue have become "punching places for network celebrities".
