Where is Baishan located in Jilin Province?

Baishan City is located on the west side of Changbai Mountain with beautiful natural scenery in the southeast of Jilin Province, with east longitude 126°7' to 128°18' and north latitude 41°21' to 42°48'. It borders Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture to the east; Tonghua City to the west; Jilin City to the north; and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the south across the Yalu River. The east-west distance is 180 kilometers, the north-south distance is 163 kilometers, the national border is 454 kilometers long, and the area is 17,485 square kilometers. The urban area is 1388 square kilometers.

Baishan City is located in the hinterland of Changbai Mountain, with numerous peaks, undulating valleys, and crisscrossing rivers. The Changbai lava platform and Jingyu lava platform cover most of the territory, and the Longgang Mountains and Laoling Mountains run diagonally across the entire territory. The Longgang Mountains are 800-1200 meters above sea level, with a relative height between 500-700 meters; the Laoling Mountains are tall mountains, with an altitude of 1000-1300 meters, and a relative height between 500-800 meters. The terrain along the Yalu River is highly undulating, with deep ravines and steep terrain. The highest point in the territory, Baiyun Peak, the main peak of Changbai Mountain, is 2,691 meters above sea level, the highest peak in Northeast China; the lowest point, Pizhoukouzi in Jingyu County, is 279.3 meters above sea level. The main rivers include the Yalu River, the First Songhua River, the Second Songhua River, and the Hun River. Baishan City has a north temperate continental monsoon climate and is the coldest area in Jilin Province. The temperature difference between day and night is large in spring; the summer is short, warm and rainy; the autumn is cool and sunny; the winter is long, dry and cold. The annual average temperature in the urban area is 4.6℃, the historical maximum temperature in summer is 36.5℃, the minimum temperature in winter is -42.2℃, the average annual precipitation is 883.4 mm, the sunshine hours are 2259 hours, and the frost-free period is 140 days.
