Looking for the ancient town of Qinling by train, surrounded by mountains, there is an ancient temple in Bai Juyi's secluded town.

In Shaanxi, many people have stopped visiting ancient towns, because the "ancient town fever" has passed. But I still like ancient towns, because where there are ancient towns, there must be ancient roads, especially in the Qinling Mountains, which must have been an important post station on the ancient roads. If you let go of your impetuous mood and explore seriously, there will always be many interesting discoveries.

Some time ago, I took a train to find an ancient town in Qinling-Yungaisi ancient town in Zhen 'an County, Shangluo City. At that time, I also published an article, but the article mainly introduced the hitchhiking route, but not much about the ancient town itself. Later, when I looked at the pictures, I found that there was a thousand-year-old temple in the town. In the Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi lived here in seclusion, but I actually ignored it at that time.

Yungai Temple is located about18km west of Zhen 'an County, and 0/00km away from Xi 'an/kloc-0. It is convenient to go by car or by car. I took the train to Zhen 'an County, and then changed to the "Yunzhen Special Line" bus to Yungaisi Town. It took me about two hours to reach my destination.

The place where the ancient town of Yungaisi is located, that is, the town center of Yungaisi Town today, is a slightly wide ravine surrounded by mountains, which should not even be called "Kuanping". Standing on a high place overlooking, I saw the dense buildings in the valley, mostly new buildings, and the streets of the ancient town were sandwiched in the middle, so I couldn't see them without looking carefully.

There is a river flowing from west to east in the center of the town, which is a tributary of the glycerol river-Xianhe River. County River should also be the mother river of Zhen 'an people. Although there are many rivers in Zhen 'an, the population along the county river is the densest and the economy is the most developed, and the county towns are also distributed along the county river.

Along the county river, go to the widest part of the ravine, and the ancient town of Yungaisi will arrive. Like many ancient towns in the Qinling Mountains, it was developed and dressed too brightly, almost covering up its original appearance.

The ancient town is mainly composed of Qian Jie, Houjie and Banbian Street. Qian Jie is by the river, about 500 meters long. Houjie is parallel to Qian Jie, and half of the street is diagonally connected with Qian Jie, which is relatively short and narrow. There are three ancient streets, and it is conceivable that Yungai Temple used to have a very prosperous business.

Tourists usually go to Qian Jie, where there are more than 40 quadrangles in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Walking on the street, you seem to be walking in the ancient town of Jiangnan. Houses paved with white walls and tiles and piled up walls are one after another, and the doors are still open for business. Make an agreement with the host in advance and walk into a house casually, and you will see that the yard is relatively primitive. Two-story wooden building and four-water courtyard are all ancient buildings in the south.

As the saying goes, there is no business without the emblem. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Huizhou merchants were very prosperous and their trade spread all over the world. Many ancient towns in Qinling Mountains can find the shadow of Huizhou architecture.

When and why did the history of Yungaisi ancient town originate? You may have guessed from its name that there should be Yungai Temple first, and then Yungai Temple Town. In the northwest corner of the ancient town, there is an inconspicuous small temple with only a small yard, that is Yungai Temple.

The history of Yungai Temple cannot be verified. Legend has it that it can be traced back to the late Western Han Dynasty. The name of this temple comes from legend. According to legend, at the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Xiu was chased by Wang Mang and fled to this temple. Suddenly, the fog was so thick that the pursuers could not tell the direction. Liu Xiu took the opportunity to escape. Later, when he became emperor, he named the temple "Yungai Temple".

According to historical records, Yungai Temple was rebuilt in the first year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 847), because it was located on the ancient road connecting Zhashui and Zhen 'an (Yungai Temple in Zhen 'an can be reached from the west valley of Shisheng in Zhashui), and it was once a scenic spot. At its peak, Yungai Temple had nine floors 18 temples and more than a thousand temples.

Bai Juyi, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, once traveled with Jia Dao to the Qinling Mountains and lived in seclusion in Yungai Temple, leaving a poem that "Yungai Temple has no roots, and it is difficult for a master to succeed":

Where can the elders go to go down the mountain to eat tiles?

Since it is said that temples are covered with clouds, why use tile patterns?

Clouds cover the top of Bodhisattva, and tiles cover the monk's hall.

The existing buildings of Yungai Temple are buildings in Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China. It is said that the murals and figure paintings preserved in the main hall are the only Paintings of Ming Dynasty in Zhen 'an.

Besides ancient towns and temples, the scenery around Yungaisi Town is also beautiful, including Fengyangou, Xiao Mu Ridge, Terrestrial Ridge and Liu Jia Courtyard. I don't know whether the original Qin Chu ancient road is still preserved. If there is an ancient road, it will be more attractive here.
