At present, the commonly used anti-dandruff agents in shampoo include zinc pyrithione (ZPT), clomizole, ethanolamine salt of piroxicone (OCT), salicylic acid, etc. Among them, compared with the most traditional ZPT, clomizole and OCT are more likely to remain on the skin and form a continuous antibacterial effect, and their performance is more advantageous.

According to the product labels of various shampoos, we tested the types and contents of the corresponding anti-dandruff agents respectively.

The results showed that zinc pyrithione (ZPT) was used in seven formulations such as Qingyang and Yun Si, and salicylic acid was used together with other anti-dandruff agents in four formulations such as L 'Oreal, Qingyang, Lingshi and Dove, all of which met the requirements of China's Technical Specification for Cosmetic Safety (20 15) (hereinafter referred to as the specification).

However, the products labeled by L 'Oré al and Gough, such as ethanolamine salt of piroxicam (OCT) and clomizole labeled by Qingyang and Romano, all showed "not detected".

Formaldehyde article: Romano and Yingdeshi detected trace amounts of formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is often used as a preservative. Improper use of cosmetics containing formaldehyde can lead to skin irritation, itching, rash and sensitive contact dermatitis.

In 20 15, the American Contact Dermatitis Association listed formaldehyde as "annual sensitizing substance".

According to the specification, when formaldehyde is used as a preservative, the total amount shall not exceed 0.2% (calculated by free formaldehyde). When the concentration of free formaldehyde in the finished product exceeds 0.05%, the product label must be marked with "containing formaldehyde" and it is forbidden to be used for spraying products.

The test results show that both Romano and Yingdeshi have detected a small amount of formaldehyde, which is lower than the limit required by Chinese standards, and normal use will not cause harm to human health.

However, Romano's detected concentration exceeds 0.05%, but its label is not marked with "formaldehyde", which does not meet the national regulations and belongs to unqualified products.

Preservatives: Sensitive preservatives were detected in Yingdeshi, Gough and Lingshi.

Outside in addition to formaldehyde, methyl isothiazolinone (MIT), methyl chloroisothiazolinone (CMIT) and CMIT/ MIT mixture (CMIT:MIT is 3: 1, which is called "cason") are also a kind of efficient preservatives widely used in daily necessities.

However, this kind of preservative has potential contact sensitization, and the common adverse reactions include itchy skin and rash, which can lead to contact dermatitis in severe cases.

According to the specification, the maximum concentration of MIT in cosmetics should be ≤0.0 1%( 100ppm), and when carbazochrome is used in washing products, it should be ≤ 0.0015 ppm (15 ppm), so it cannot be used together with MIT.

The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety of the European Union (SCCS) suggested that MIT in washing products should be ≤0.00 15%( 15ppm).

The test results showed that MIT and/or CMIT were detected in three kinds of men's shampoos: Yingdeshi, Gough and Lingshi, but their contents met the requirements of China and the safety level recommended by the European Union SCCS.

GB 5296.3-2008 "General Labels for Cosmetics in Consumer Instructions" stipulates that the visible surface of cosmetics sales packaging should be marked with the names of all the ingredients of cosmetics.

The classic refreshing dandruff shampoo of Lingshi has been tested separately by MIT, but its packaging is not marked, which does not meet the national requirements and belongs to unqualified products.

Labeling all ingredients on cosmetic packaging can help consumers get information about the corresponding ingredients and reduce the risk of sensitization.
