East Lake Scenic Area is located near East Lake in Wuchang. East Lake is also a famous water sports place in Wuhan. Some people call it the "ocean" of big cities. East Lake is a huge lake with a water surface of 33 square kilometers, which is more than five times larger than West Lake in Hangzhou. Together with the land scenic spots along the lake, it covers an area of more than 80 square kilometers. The winding shore and criss-crossing ports of East Lake are called 99 bays. Since 1950, scenic spots have been built here. Up to now, six tourist areas with their own characteristics have been formed, namely Tingtao District, Moshan District and Luohong District, as well as Baima District, Luo Yan District and Flute Playing District, which have not been fully built.

Walking into the gate of East Lake is Tingtao District. To the south of this area is a long and narrow peninsula. There are Xianyue Pavilion, Kezhuxuan, multi-view terrace, outdoor theater, skating rink and so on. Going north from here is to listen to Tao Xuan. Surrounded by pines and cypresses, this porch is quiet in appearance and quaint in architecture. There is the word "Cloud Water Town" on the lower right of Xuan, and there are attractive dishes with live fish flavor in Tingtao restaurant on the lower left. Crossing the Hefeng Bridge to the north is the "Yin Hangting Pavilion" in memory of Qu Yuan, a poet of Chu State, which is equivalent to a two-or three-story Yin Hangting Pavilion. It is quaint and nostalgic. Go north and cross Luo Yu Bridge, and you will see Hu Lin Gallery and qu yuan memorial hall in zigui county in Zigui County, where art and calligraphy exhibitions are often held. Cross a bridge further north, and you will reach the pear garden. Orchard (pear) is the main part of the park, supplemented by exotic flowers and herbs. Across the Liyuan to the north is Jiunvdun to commemorate the sacrifice of Jiunvdun in Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. At this time, the scenery along the lake has been completed, but there is a long embankment from Jiunvdun to the east, leading to an island in the middle of the lake. There is a lake pavilion (Huguang Pavilion) on the island, just like the lake island on the edge of Yin Yue in Santan, West Lake, Hangzhou.

In Tingtao District, there is also the first sculpture fable park in China. The stone statues and bronze statues carved according to fables such as The Blind Touch the Elephant, The Hunters Fight the Wild Goose, The Sniper and the Clam Fight, Mr. Dong Guo and Stealing the Clock are vivid, which makes you feel different when you come.

Niaoyulin, located in the East Lake Scenic Area, is the only large-scale bird watching and bird art performance paradise in Hubei Province. Covering an area of 30 mu, it has collected more than 5,000 species of 150 rare birds, among which the first-and second-class protected birds are: green peacock, red-crowned crane, golden pheasant and so on. And macaws, black swans, pelicans, flamingos and other foreign rare birds. There are bird art theater, peacock flying southeast performance field, large artificial waterfall, Swan Lake, Yuanyang River and other scenic spots in the Bird Language Forest. Strolling through the Bird Language Forest, you can not only enjoy exotic birds and increase your knowledge, but also enjoy the harmonious bird art performance in the Bird Art Theater and the fun of feeding birds by yourself.

Moshan is an important part of East Lake, surrounded by water on three sides and with six peaks. It is the most beautiful tourist and leisure resort in Wuhan, with picturesque natural scenery, countless exotic flowers and plants, and rich cultural and human landscape of Chu.

Beautiful landscapes, rich plants, unique gardens and rich Chu wind are the four characteristics of Moshan Scenic Area.

The 33-square-kilometer East Lake is surrounded by clear water on its east, west and north sides, making it like a beautiful peninsula. Climb the peak here to see the clear ripples, step on the white waves to see the mountains, and you can appreciate the exquisiteness of various landscapes. Sufficient rainfall and light have created more than 250 kinds of ornamental trees and more than 2 million plants here, which is known as the "green treasure house" in Wuhan. This is a sea of flowers, with thousands of different kinds of flowers. Plum blossom, azalea, cherry blossom, orchid, lotus, osmanthus, rose, begonia and peach blossom are the main representatives of these flowers. Among them, there are only 206 plum varieties, and there are more than 20 thousand plum trees and piles, which are the highest in the country. The cultivation technology and research level are all ahead of the whole country, and the "China Plum Research Center" has settled in Meishan Meiyuan. The favorable tourism resources have attracted the investment of Lu 'ao Bank of Japan in the construction of Moshan Cherry Garden, which is also known as the three major cherry blossom viewing resorts in the world with Hirosaki City of Japan and Washington, USA. Beautiful cherry blossoms are as bright as the morning sun and as white as the first snow. The five pagodas in Horyuji, a Japanese classical garden building, is a symbol of friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people for generations. The variety of Moshan Rhododendron Garden ranks first among the five provinces in Central and South China. In the spring of March, flowers are woven all over the mountains, which is dizzying. Osmanthus fragrans in Moshan has always enjoyed a high reputation among the people, and is known as "eight miles of Moshan, ten miles of fragrance".

Luohong District is Luojia Mountain and Hongshan Scenic Area. The famous Wuhan University is hidden in the mountains. The quaint and elegant campus buildings are scattered among flowers and trees such as cherry blossoms and osmanthus flowers, attracting countless tourists. Hongshan is also a good place, with dense forests and many historical sites.

Around the East Lake Scenic Area, there are also places of interest such as Yinmachi of the King of Chu, Tomb of the King of Chu, Temple of the King of Wu, Zhuodaoquan, Guangong Bridge, the former residence of Li Beihai, Yingtai and so on.

Note: Allusions about East Lake

East Lake is like a bright pearl, embedded in the south bank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan. Beautiful natural scenery is the main feature of East Lake, which is famous for many places of interest.

The area around Donghu Gate is called oriole Bay, and the road ahead is called oriole Road. This name is taken from the quatrain written by Du Fu, a poet in the Tang Dynasty: "Two orioles sing green willows, and a row of egrets go up to the sky." Outside the window is the autumn snow in Xiling, and the Wu Dong Wan Li boat is moored at the door.

The "Sky Tower" in the East Lake has magnificent eaves and great momentum. Standing on the railing overlooking the sky tower, there is a feeling of "the sunset is lonely, the autumn water is * * * the sky is one color" (from the preface to Wang Tengting in Tang Dynasty), hence the name.

There is a drum mountain in the wild goose scenic area of Moshan Mountain. According to legend, during the Warring States period, Chu Zhuangwang beat drums and supervised the battle against Douyue Reef. In a battle, Dou Yuejiao shot an arrow at Chu Zhuangwang, but it hit Gushan. Therefore, this mountain is called "Drum Mountain".

To the north of Yanxing District is the "White Horse Scenic Area", and there is a white horse island in the area. According to legend, after Battle of Red Cliffs in 208 AD, Lu Su turned back to Xiakou and rode across the mainland. His horse died in the mud and was buried in the mainland with tears in his eyes, hence the name "Baimazhou".

To the east of Luo Yan District and Moshan District is "Dizi Mountain", where the mountains are undulating and beautiful. According to legend, Zhu Zhen, the sixth son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, played the flute here when he sealed Wuchang, hence the name "Flute Mountain".
