As a foreigner, you, or your landlord, must report your address to the immigration office where you live (or to the police station if there is no immigration office) within 24 hours of entering Thailand. If you didn't do it, were you fined for reporting to the immigration office for 90 days?

As early as August every year, our website in Thailand published a report on this regulation (-"You must report to the immigration office within 24 hours of entering Thailand, or you will be fined? ), review and evaluate this rule that many people are not aware of.

In fact, this provision is not new, but a long-standing express provision, but it has not been widely implemented in Thailand. As of last year, we know that Chiang Mai has strictly implemented this regulation. Other provinces (except Bangkok) have partially implemented it.

However, in Bangkok, this rule has been "hidden in the snow" for a long time, and most people don't know it exists. The Bangkok Immigration Bureau did not actually implement it, and no one was actually punished. Now, foreigners in Bangkok must be the object of this regulation.

Since the middle of the year, Thailand's immigration system has suddenly tightened the management of foreigners on a large scale. Bangkok didn't really implement the "24-hour check-in system" before, so it was "activated" in Bangkok.

So, what is this "24-hour sign-in" method? The Thai government has promulgated "What you need to know to report foreigners staying in Thailand" and made such an introduction.

According to Article 38 of the Law on the Entry of Foreigners (1979), if the owner, apartment/hotel and other managers of the residence receive any foreigners who are allowed to enter the country, the owner, apartment/hotel and other managers of the residence must report to the local immigration bureau within 24 hours, or report to the local police station if there is no local immigration bureau.

If homeowners, homeowners, apartments/hotels and other managers in Bangkok receive foreigners, they must report to the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok. All reporting procedures should comply with the regulations.

If you handle it in person or send it by post office, please pay attention to the following when filling out TM.30 form:

Owners, homeowners, apartments/hotels and other managers who receive foreigners must fill in two parts (2 sheets) in TM.30 form. The first section is to fill in the information of the owner, owner, apartment/hotel and other managers, and the second section is to fill in the information of foreigners, mainly referring to passports. Therefore, it is incorrect for foreigners to fill in the information before checking in. Please choose writing or printing, and write in English capital letters.

Please pay special attention to the following matters:

When filling in the names of foreigners, the first name, middle name and surname should be clearly distinguished.

If the foreigner's passport number has characters/letters before or after it, it should also be filled in.

Fill in the entry card serial number according to the entry card (TM.6 form) in the foreigner's passport.

If there are any words in your passport number, you should also fill them in.

Entry date refers to the date when foreigners enter Thailand and stay in apartments, hotels, houses and residences. The contents of the "foreigner's stay report" should be filled in. The staff will check the TM.30 form. If all the information is filled in correctly, the staff will tear off the designated part at the bottom of the form and give it to the informant for safekeeping.

4. If you need to declare the foreigner's information to the Immigration Bureau, it turns out to be the owner of Thailand. But if the owner is unwilling to come forward, you must go to the immigration office in person, or report it through the internet and the post office.

Of course, the above four articles are just "literal provisions". In practice, the requirements of immigration offices in different parts of Thailand are different. What is the actual situation? According to the current observation, it is roughly like this.

First, in all parts of Thailand, tourists traveling with a group are not within the scope of implementation of this regulation. In theory, hotels will report to the Immigration Bureau, so it is absolutely impossible for tourists who have been in Thailand for a short time to spend half a day going to the Immigration Bureau.

Therefore, this provision only applies to international students, migrant workers and other foreigners who have lived in Thailand for a long time. -tourists are not within the scope of "24-hour check-in".

Second, in all parts of Thailand, this regulation will actually only "punish" foreigners who stay in Thailand for more than 90 days.

In Chiang Mai, foreigners living in the country will be fined 1600 baht if they don't report within 24 hours. In Bangkok, it will be fined 800 baht at present. However, foreigners will only be fined if they go to the immigration office for extension or registration within 90 days.

In other words, if you stay in Thailand for less than 90 days, you will not be fined.

Those who have lived in their rented houses, homestays or friends' homes for more than 3 months must report to the Immigration Bureau within 24 hours of entry, or they will be fined for 90 days.

Third, in Bangkok, foreigners who register their addresses face to face need to bring the valid address certificate provided by the landlord. That is, the rental contract, the landlord's real estate license (household registration book), and a copy of the ID card signed by the landlord himself.

If you can reach an understanding with the landlord and let him report for you, it is of course the best;

If the landlord doesn't go, you should ask him for relevant documents (which should also be kept by the tenant when renting a house) for your reference.

Also, it is best to download it in advance and fill out the TM30 form.

Fourth, people who have left their place of residence for more than one day must report to the immigration bureau or the local police station within 48 hours once they check into the hotel.

A rule that was originally "sealed" seems to have been fully implemented in Thailand.

Judging from the intention, this move by the Immigration Bureau of Thailand is actually a part of "vigorously inspecting illegal foreigners in Thailand". Since illegal employment, work that does not match the visa type, expired visas, and even failure to report for 90 years have become the targets of vigorous crackdown and investigation by the Thai police and immigration authorities, the revival of the "24-hour entry report" is naturally the meaning of the title.

Wouldn't it be easier to find out once the Thai police and immigration bureau have mastered the residences of all foreigners? In any case, many confused foreigners will be severely punished.
