Gansu Nonferrous Geological Exploration Bureau was established in 197 1, and was placed under the leadership of Gansu Provincial People's Government in July 2000. In 200 1 year, it was officially renamed as the Provincial Nonferrous Geological Exploration Bureau, which is a department-level institution directly managed by the Provincial Department of Land and Resources.

The Bureau has 9 county-level institutions (7 institutes and 2 centers): Lanzhou Mineral Exploration Institute, Tianshui Mineral Exploration Institute, Baiyin Mineral Exploration Institute, Zhangye Mineral Exploration Institute, Nonferrous Geological Survey Institute, Mineral Exploration and Development Research Institute, Nonferrous Engineering Survey and Design Institute, Information Center and Logistics Service Center. Four bureau-owned enterprises: Kyushu Exploration and Mining Company, Gansu Nonferrous Engineering Survey and Design Institute, Jinjiang Sunshine Hotel and Tianshui Shanshuiyuan Hotel.

Outstanding achievements include: the discovery and verification of Xicheng lead-zinc ore field, the second largest lead-zinc mine in China, with a controlled reserve of nearly150,000 tons; The Xiaoliugou tungsten-molybdenum mine in Sunan, Wushan Hot Spring Molybdenum Mine, Lixian Ba Li Gold Mine, Dunhuang Baishan Tungsten Mine, Guazhou Xinjinchang Gold Mine, Subei Shidonggou Silver Polymetallic Mine, Baiyinchang Deep Rich Copper Mine, Sunan Huangshaquan Iron Mine and Tianzhu Ugnigou Coal Mine have been discovered and proved successively. Legal basis:

Provisions on safety production of metallurgical enterprises and non-ferrous metal enterprises Article 2 These Provisions shall apply to the safety production (including occupational health, the same below) of metallurgical enterprises and non-ferrous metal enterprises (hereinafter referred to as enterprises) and their supervision and management.

Safety production, supervision and management of metal smelting activities in mechanical casting enterprises shall be implemented with reference to these regulations.

Article 3 Metallurgical enterprises mentioned in these Provisions refer to enterprises engaged in ferrous metal smelting, calendering and other production activities.

The term "non-ferrous metal enterprises" as mentioned in these Provisions refers to enterprises engaged in non-ferrous metal smelting, rolling processing and other production activities.

The term "metal smelting" as mentioned in these Provisions refers to the production activities of metallurgical enterprises and non-ferrous metal enterprises engaged in high-temperature molten metal and slag (hereinafter referred to as high-temperature molten metal) reaching the scale (quantity) stipulated by the state.

The specific catalogues of ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry and nonferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry are formulated and published by the State Administration of Work Safety with reference to the National Economic Industry Classification (GB/T4754).

Article 4 An enterprise is the main body responsible for production safety. An enterprise shall bear the management responsibility for the work safety of its branches without legal person status.

Article 5 state administration of work safety shall guide and supervise the safety production of metallurgical enterprises and non-ferrous metal enterprises throughout the country.

The safety production supervision and management departments and relevant departments of the local people's governments at or above the county level (hereinafter referred to as departments responsible for the supervision of metallurgical and non-ferrous metal production) shall supervise and manage the safety production of metallurgical enterprises and non-ferrous metal enterprises within their respective administrative areas in accordance with the responsibilities stipulated by the people's governments at the corresponding levels and the principle of territorial supervision and graded responsibility.
