How to refund tax in Tokyo, Japan
Tax refund and exemption
I suddenly thought of this when I was writing a running account, but I still want to talk about it. Come back and make up.
Tax refund is not the same as tax exemption in Japan.
Usually the consumption tax is 8%, and some things may reach 10%. The tax allowance is basically 5000 yen.
There are two common signs in Japanese shopping places (please borrow pictures to some extent)
One is like this, which directly says Japan Duty Free Shop. This is a standard duty-free shop. Basically reach the tax-free quota, that is, completely tax-free. In other words, you only need to pay the price excluding tax in the store. Some shops, such as Don Quixote, pay the price including tax first, and then get an 8% tax refund at the tax refund counter.
Another sign is this. Global blue alliance, or global tax exemption. It's basically the policy of big shopping malls.
In fact, it can't be said to be a duty-free shop, because the handling fee of about 1.2% needs to be deducted when the tax refund is made, so the actual tax refund is only 6%. Generally, there are many such products in large shopping malls, so you must be careful when buying counter goods for others. The value of counter goods is relatively high, sometimes it is a fraction of the price difference.
If there is only the first logo, it is generally a full refund. But if both brands are available, it is generally 1.2% handling fee.
Just like this one I took in front of Takashimaya. There are Japanese duty-free shops and the Global Blue Union logo. That is, the handling fee will be deducted ~
I strongly recommend a book. This is a book in JTB travel guide series, published by a publishing house in Japan. Besides Tokyo, there are many places in the whole series, such as Osaka.
And all the regional maps, scenic spots maps and so on.
The signs are also obvious. There are all kinds of delicious and fun recommendations. It can quickly let you know where you are going, not necessarily where you are going.
Recommend another tourist project, called Tokyo Impression. Maybe many people have seen it. Not bad.
It can also help you get to know Tokyo or some cities around Tokyo very quickly.
skill
Bring a pair of comfortable and easy-to-walk shoes ~ I feel that all the streets and alleys in Japan are suitable for wandering.
A notebook with blank pages ~ because there are many places in Japan where commemorative medals can be posted.
Slow down and don't schedule your trip too tightly. You can find many details of the neon country.
Before departure, you may get unexpected gains by visiting official website in various scenic spots, shops and regions.

When spending in Japan, the government will levy a consumption tax of 8% of the payment, while travelers with short-term visas can get cash refunds for local unconsumed goods.
From 20 16 May 1, the duty-free quota for consumables and general commodities is set at more than 5,000 yen (300 RMB). As long as you buy more than 5000 yen, you can apply for a tax refund.
Tax refund conditions
The two most common tax refund methods for shopping in Tokyo:
Direct tax refund when checking out. This is the most convenient one. Basically, they are in pharmacies or electrical stores. As long as your spending exceeds 5000 yen, you can apply for tax exemption.
Go to the special tax refund counter. This method is common in major shopping malls. You need to pay the full amount when you check out, and then go to the special counter for tax refund.
Tax refund process
You need to bring your passport when you go through the formalities. After applying to the store, the store will follow the process. Generally, after deducting the handling fee of about 65438+ 0% of the total price, it can be directly cashed back or directly deducted from the payable amount. The whole process takes about 5- 10 minutes.
Practical tips:
Unlike Japan and Europe, Japanese airports do not apply for tax refund.
When shopping in some drugstores or large electrical appliances stores, as long as you show your passport, the merchant will sell the goods directly to you at the duty-free price, without special tax refund procedures.
According to the current regulations in Japan, goods purchased duty-free are not allowed to be opened and used in China. Although there is no mandatory inspection at the airport, please keep the relevant receipts.
When shopping, be sure to bring the original passport and keep the shopping receipt.
