Cable-stayed bridge, as a cable system, has greater spanning capacity than beam bridge and is the most important bridge type in long-span bridges.

Cable-stayed bridge consists of pylon, main girder and stay cables. The types of cable towers are A-type, inverted Y-type, H-type and single-column type, and the materials are steel and concrete. Stay cables are arranged with single cable plane, parallel double cable plane and stay cable plane. For example, Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge are reinforced concrete cable-stayed bridges with twin towers and double cable planes. Modern cable-stayed bridges can be traced back to 1956, the Strender pine bridge built in Sweden, with a main span of 182.6 meters. After half a century, the cable-stayed bridge technology has achieved unprecedented development. There are more than 200 cable-stayed bridges with a main span of more than 200 meters in the world, of which more than 40 are over 400 meters. Especially after the 1990s, the famous cable-stayed bridges built in the world include: Normandy cable-stayed bridge in France (with a main span of 856m), steel box girder cable-stayed bridge in the south branch of the Second Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (with a main span of 628m), and Duoluo Bridge (with a main span of 890m), the world's largest span built in Japan from 65438 to 0999. Up to now, more than 0/00 cable-stayed bridges of various types have been built in China, of which 52 have spans over 200 meters.
