What's the difference between waterborne wood paint and oily wood paint?
(1) Toxicity: Water-borne paint is a truly nontoxic and tasteless high-tech environmental protection product, because it is a combination of high-grade acrylic acid and polyurethane, with ultra-low VOC content (200mg/L lower than the national mandatory standard). However, organic solvents are added to nitrocellulose lacquer and polyester paint, and their products contain benzene, toluene, xylene and their derivatives, so polyester paint has the highest toxicity, followed by nitrocellulose lacquer.
(2) Flammability: Water is used instead of organic solvent in waterborne wood paint, so the product is safe and nonflammable. Greatly reduce the dangerous factors and troubles in production and circulation. Nitrocellulose paint and polyester paint contain benzene, xylene, acetone, solvent gasoline and water, which are extremely flammable.
(3) Irritant odor: Water replaces organic solvent in waterborne wood paint, and its products will not produce any irritating odor when painting. Nitrocellulose paint and polyester paint contain organic solvents, which will volatilize into the air during painting and drying, directly stimulating the human body's feeling.
(4) Check-in time after painting: Waterborne wood paint has the characteristics of less brushing times, quick drying and easy construction, and there is no time limit after painting, so you can check in after painting. However, nitrolacquer and organic solvents in polyester paint will emit harmful gases during drying. Therefore, houses decorated with nitrolacquer and polyester paint are generally not allowed to move in directly after painting and need to wait for a period of isolation.
2. Compared with quality and performance, the comprehensive performance is average.
(1) Hardness: Due to the advanced waterborne polyurethane system, the waterborne paint can reach the physical index of 1H when the paint film is completely dry; Ordinary polyurethane paint from polyester paint has the highest hardness because of the addition of organic curing agent. Nitrate paint needs to be brushed for more than ten times, and the film hardness is the worst!
(2) Hand feel and fullness: Although polyester paint has the best effect on the hand feel and fullness of paint film, the hand feel and fullness of water-based paint have been greatly improved because of the technology of Bo Tu+"virtual texture"; Nitrocellulose paint film has the worst feel and fullness.
(3) Wear resistance, yellowing resistance and durability: the water-based paint adopts advanced aliphatic polyurethane system, and the surface of the paint film is hard, wear-resistant and elastic, and will not turn white due to collision; No yellowing, the paint film remains clear and transparent for many years; It is resistant to artificial aging for 800 hours and durable outdoors. However, nitrocellulose lacquer and polyester paint have the disadvantages of easy collision, whitening and yellowing, and cannot keep the effect for a long time.
3, construction and cost comparison, basically flat.
(1) Convenient construction: Water-based paint can be diluted with water, so it is easy to apply directly. Nitrocellulose paint and polyester paint need to be added with Tylenol or related curing agent in a fixed proportion. Therefore, the construction of nitrolacquer and polyester paint needs the guidance of professionals.
(2) Paint waste and brushing times: After the water-based paint is used up, the remaining paint can be stored in a cool place for further preservation; Nitrocellulose paint and polyester paint can only be used once because of the addition of curing agent, which will waste the rest of the paint. In terms of brush times, four times of water-based paint can achieve the effect of ten times of nitrocellulose paint.
(3) Repairability: Wood furniture painted with water-based paint can be directly covered with paint when being repaired; When repairing wooden furniture with nitrocellulose paint and polyurethane paint, the old paint film must be polished off with sandpaper before painting.
(4) Working cost and coating cost: the amount of water-based paint per square meter is relatively small, generally around 30M2/Kg, and there is no need to add thinner, so the working hours are less. Therefore, the cost of using waterborne wood paint is basically the same as that of using nitrocellulose paint and polyester paint.
4. Application scope of waterborne wood paint Because of its ultra-low VOC content, waterborne wood paint is a truly nontoxic and tasteless high-tech environmental protection product. At the same time, waterborne wood paint has the characteristics of quick drying, no yellowing, water resistance, scrubbing resistance, heat resistance, hard surface and flexible paint film. Therefore, the application range of waterborne wood paint is very wide.
First of all, waterborne wood paint is the first choice for home decoration. Because in the process of home decoration, health and no smell are the minimum requirements. At the same time, the waterborne wood paint with good surface can be diluted and cleaned with water, which is easy to be painted, and can be used for painting wooden doors, wooden windows, cabinets, furniture, wooden floors and children's rooms in families. Very suitable for DIY decoration of the whole family, and fully enjoy the fun of painting!
Secondly, water-based wood paint is also recommended for the decoration of offices, business hotels and entertainment places. Because for high-end luxury hotels, tasteless and non-toxic is its minimum requirement; For offices and shopping centers, due to the implementation of closed central air conditioning system, the use of water-based wood paint can reduce the free TDI and its derivatives in the air and better protect the health of office workers and shopping consumers.
Third, timber and toy exporters. As western developed countries such as Europe and America put forward the standard of VOC limit in coatings as early as ten years ago, water-based environmental protection products have been widely used. Therefore, in the process of testing imported goods in western countries, the VOC content of China's export products often exceeds the standard, among which wood and toy exporters account for the heaviest proportion. Because these manufacturers use solvent-based wood paint in the process of painting exported wood and toys, the VOC content directly exceeds the standard, because water-based wood paint has ultra-low VOC content, which can provide perfect decoration and protection for exported furniture, children's furniture, toys and wood processed products.
Fourthly, it is recommended to use water-based wood paint for outdoor wood protection. Anyone who has painted it knows that the nitrocellulose lacquer and polyester paint on the market at present cannot be used for outdoor decoration. Because the use of solvent-based wood paint has the disadvantage of easy aging and yellowing. Using water-based wood paint can solve this problem. Waterborne wood paint has strong anti-aging and yellowing resistance, and 800 hours of artificial aging is equivalent to ten years outdoors. Therefore, in the sun and rain, villas, wooden houses and garden wood products are most suitable for using water-based wood paint.
