After the pre-authorization is completed, the equivalent amount in the credit card will be temporarily frozen by the bank and will not be actually transferred to the hotel account until checkout. If actual consumption is less than the pre-authorized amount, the remainder will be refunded to the guest's account. Therefore, completion of pre-authorization usually means that the payment has been deducted unless there is any remaining amount that will be refunded.
