Origin of Hangul

King Sejong of the Joseon Kingdom created Hunminjeongeum (Korean proverb) in December 1443 (the 25th year of Sejong) , was widely released nationwide in 1446 (the 28th year of King Sejong), and was original and scientific in marking Korean.

There is a strong correlation between letters and phonemes. For example, the letter "?" means that the tongue is touching the upper wall of the mouth. The letter "?" and the letter "?" are both tongue sounds, but the pronunciation is stronger, so a picture is added on top of "?" to form the letter "?". Other letters ‘? . ?’, ‘? ． ?． ?’, ‘? . ?’, ‘? ． ?． ?’ is also created based on this phonetic principle.

Although the Joseon Dynasty created its own writing system, the ruling class of the Joseon Dynasty, Yangban, still preferred to use Chinese characters. The phonetic alphabet system of Hunminjeongeum was not widely used until the 20th century.
