In kitchen design, what are the kitchen layouts?

The layout of the kitchen mainly includes one-shaped, two-shaped, L-shaped, U-shaped, island-shaped, etc. It can be designed according to the area and space of the kitchen. Various layouts have their own pros and cons. The key is to see whether the "working corner" formed by the three key points of the refrigerator, sink and stove is reasonable.

1. Straight-line shape: The kitchen facilities are lined up along one wall. It is more suitable for long and narrow spaces such as corridors and aisles, but it is difficult to arrange them reasonably. If the workbench is too long, the three key points will be far apart, and work efficiency will be low; if it is too short, turnover will be limited. For a one-word kitchen, on the basis of not obstructing the passage, you can consider arranging a chopping board that can be extended, contracted or folded, and flexibly adjust the positions of several points to build a movable triangle to make up for the shortcomings of three points and one line.

2. Two-character shape: Arrange the work area on parallel lines on both sides. In the distribution of work centers, the sink and chopping board are often arranged on one side, and the stove is arranged on the other side. The two-shaped layout is similar to the U-shaped layout, and the work triangle can also be constructed more reasonably.

3. L-shaped: The kitchen facilities are arranged along the two walls, and the three key points are arranged in a triangle. This layout complies with the kitchen "work triangle" principle and takes up less space. However, please note that the distance between the two sides of the L-shape cannot be too large. If it becomes too long, it will also affect work efficiency. Currently, the L-shaped layout is the largest.

4. U-shaped: The kitchen facilities are arranged along three adjacent sides. There are two corners at the end of the work area. It has roughly the same function as the L-shaped one and occupies a larger space. It is best to place the sink at an appropriate location on the wall in the middle of the U-shape, and separate the dining area so that the sink, refrigerator and stove are connected to form an equilateral triangle. The distance between the U-shaped consoles on two opposite walls should be 1.2-1.5 meters to prevent the triangle from being too large. Another benefit of this layout is that it allows for more storage space.

5. Island type: There is a cooking table in the middle of the kitchen, and the rest of the facilities are arranged around it. It is evolved from the above four layouts. You can innovate according to the size of the space and personal preferences. The island layout is a novel and unique design. It adds a work surface and is not far away from several other work centers. It can be used for meal preparation, bartending, and placement. It is very convenient to put flowers and other decorations. However, the island layout requires a very large space and is generally used in villa layouts.
