In early July 2013, I traveled from Beijing to Bayanhot, Alxa, and consulted on picking up agate stones!

1. It is very convenient to fly and train from Beijing to Yinchuan, and it is also very close from Yinchuan to Zuoqi. There are many buses at the bus station. I haven’t been back for a year. I forgot the price. It seems to be more than ten or twenty. It costs RMB 2, and you can get to the station in about two hours. The station in Zuoqi is a bit remote and it is difficult to take a taxi. Local taxis are shared and they will pick up people along the way for 2 RMB per person. You can also take a taxi or a fishing car. , carpooling for four people, priced at 35 to 40 yuan per person, will take you to the designated location in one and a half hours.

2. If you go during the National Day holiday, it will be difficult to book a room. Usually there are still many vacant rooms. You can actually use Tiger Map, Baidu Map, etc. to select a place in advance. Generally, map software will have a contact number. You can call to ask about the price and availability. I have never stayed in one, but I heard that Alxa Hotel, Ameng Hotel, Tengger Hotel and Pujing Hotel seem to be relatively expensive and the environment will be better.

3. As for natural landscapes, the ones often visited near Zuo Banner are Nan Temple, Moon Lake, Tengger Desert, and Gorin Beach. You can climb Helan Mountain at Nan Temple, and you can go safari in the desert at Moon Lake. You can come back to these two places on the same day. As for picking up agate stones, I don’t recommend that you go near Zuoqi. The chance of picking them up is really very small. There may be some chances in the Tengger Desert, Gorin Beach or other places with few people. You can ask the locals when you arrive. These places are relatively remote. It is best to use Zuoqi as a transit stop, where you can stay at local farmhouses and the like. The locals love spicy food, and if you don’t like spicy food, you can cook your own food.
