The History and Culture of Dayi Town

Dayi Town has a long history and culture. Dayi was called Lingxuan Town in ancient times. Han Shizhong, a famous soldier in the Southern Song Dynasty, defeated the nomads from here and held a grand celebration ceremony, so it was renamed Dayi. There are ancient cultural sites in Qingdun and Yindun. Historically, because of its unique geographical location, convenient transportation and prosperous business, it has been known as the first of the thirteen episodes of Xixiang, Yangzhou since ancient times. According to Jiajing's Weiyang Records, there were three towns in Jiangdu County in Song Dynasty, and Dayi was one of them, which was the political center west of Yangzhou. Dayi industry and commerce are very prosperous. The bull market in Ming and Qing dynasties, Xuzhou and Danyang are also called the three bull markets in Jiangsu, with the highest turnover exceeding 10,000 heads. The unique flavor of Dayi beef and beef feast has become a food culture with local traditional characteristics. In the 4th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (the 12th year of Jintianhui, 1 134), in the Song-Jin War, Jin and his puppet troops were defeated in Dayi Town (now the northwest of Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province), which was one of the thirteen great feats of the Southern Song Dynasty.
