The name of Kenting is said to be that during the Qing Dynasty, a group of able-bodied men came from the mainland to reclaim land at the southernmost tip of Taiwan Province Province, which was later called "Kenting". Longkeng has a special ecology, complex coastal plants and many special and rare coastal plants. For example, "Vernonia Binhai" can only be seen in Longkeng in Taiwan Province except Lan Yu; Pittosporum with only half a petal, the blood of dragon's paw with thorns, and Morinda citrifolia floating from Tahiti are all unique coastal plants in Longkeng.
