Located in Xi, Shaanxi Province, Northwestern Polytechnical University is the only multidisciplinary, research-oriented and open university in China where aviation, aerospace and navigation engineering education and scientific research develop simultaneously. The school can be traced back to the National Beiyang Institute of Technology in 1938, and moved to Xi 'an in 956, renamed Xi 'an Aviation Institute. 1957, Northwest Institute of Technology and Xi 'an Aviation Institute merged to form Northwestern Polytechnical University; 1970 Integration of the former Aviation Engineering Department of China People's Liberation Army Military Engineering College.
