I went to Wuhan for a bowl of hot dry noodles. When you first see Wuhan, you must do these four things
For a bowl of hot dry noodles, I bought a plane ticket and went to Wuhan, Hubei.
In 2020, I shouted "Come on, hot dry noodles" countless times. At that time, I told myself that after the epidemic was over, I would go to Wuhan to have a look. Take a look at Wuhan after the epidemic, look at this heroic city, and feel the daily life of the locals.
I am always busy and have never been able to fulfill my wish, but this little wish has always been in my heart.
I was traveling from Lhasa, Tibet to Sanya, Hainan at the end of April. There were many cities where I could stop in the middle, like Chengdu, Xi'an, and Chongqing, but I decided to buy a plane ticket to Wuhan just to eat a bowl of hot dry noodles in person. Fulfill a small dream.
For a tourist, what he knows about the city of Wuhan is the hot dry noodles filling the streets, the cherry blossoms at Wuhan University in spring, and the Yellow Crane Tower on the Yangtze River.
One day and one night, the scenery of Wuchang, Hankou, Hanyang, the two rivers and the four banks, a fusion of the old and the new, passed by in a hurry. Staying at the Qingchuan Holiday Hotel near Qingchuan Pavilion, you can view the Yellow Crane Tower and admire the moon.
There are still many places I haven’t visited, so I wrote them down in my travel notebook:
Wuchang’s Liangdao Street, Chuhehan Street, Provincial Museum, East Lake, Wuhan University and Optics Valley Pedestrian Street; Hankou’s Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, Shuita Street, Lihuangpi Road, Wuhan Tiandi, Wansongyuan Snack Street, Gude Temple; Hanyang Guqintai, Hanyang Zao and Guiyuan Temple.
When I first saw Wuhan, I completed these four things.
After getting off the ferry, you need to go through Hubu Lane to go to Yellow Crane Tower. I have heard these three words for a long time, and to be honest I am quite disappointed. It's just a tourist street with no characteristics at all.
The streets are filled with tofu skin, ice powder and crayfish.
A friend said that you must eat crayfish once when you come to Wuhan. I always thought that the most famous place for eating crayfish was Xuyi, Jiangsu. Who knew that Wuhan was the best place to eat crayfish.
I just felt uncomfortable in my throat for those few days, so I gave up and left it for next time.
I also discovered a shop called Cai Mingwei, who is said to be the founder of Cai Linji and the inventor of hot dry noodles. As a tourist, I can’t figure it out.
Go forward on Hubu Lane and pass the overpass to reach the legendary Yellow Crane Tower.
Whether it is "In the past, people have ridden the Yellow Crane, and the Yellow Crane Tower is vacant here." or "The old friend left the Yellow Crane Tower in the west, and the fireworks were displayed in Yangzhou in March." These three words of the Yellow Crane Tower, old and young, Everyone knows.
The Yellow Crane Tower is named after the Yellow Crane Mountain (also known as Snake Mountain) in Wuchang where it is located. It is said that the ancient immortal son passed here on a yellow crane. This is also a masterpiece that combines classical and modern styles, poetry and aesthetics.
Just like you haven’t been to the Humble Administrator’s Garden, you haven’t been to Suzhou. Doesn’t it mean that you haven’t been to Wuhan if you haven’t been to Yellow Crane Tower?
As a landmark building in Wuhan, many tourists will check in, so just be a normal tourist.
The Yellow Crane Tower is one of the "Three Famous Towers in the South of the Yangtze River". It has been known as "the first tower in the world" and "the most beautiful scenery in the world" since ancient times. The literati of the past dynasties left many masterpieces here, making the Yellow Crane Tower famous since ancient times.
At the entrance of Yellow Crane Tower, they sell Yellow Crane Tower customized ice cream for 15 yuan a piece. Buy one and take a photo to check in.
Now that you are here, you have to climb to the highest floor of the Yellow Crane Tower.
Climb up the stairs and have a panoramic view of the three towns of Wuhan. The Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge connects both sides of the Yangtze River, and "the mountains and rivers are picturesque".
Tip: Yellow Crane Tower ticket is 70 yuan
A friend said to me: "The hot dry noodles are as unpalatable as they are?" No, right? Then try it yourself!
The streets of Wuhan are full of hot dry noodles. Local friends are in a dilemma. Which restaurant should I recommend? You can't go to a place on the street that doesn't even have a store name, right?
Later, I chose "Cailinji", a time-honored brand in Hubei, founded in 1928, which is almost 100 years old.
I ordered beef hot dry noodles, soup noodles, eggnog, noodle nests and three fresh bean curds. It cost more than 40, which was really affordable.
This beef hot dry noodles has a lot of beef and is priced at 16 yuan/portion. The sesame sauce uses black sesame seeds. It was very fragrant after mixing well, and I ate one portion by myself.
But it is said that most locals eat "all-ingredient hot dry noodles", which is just noodles and nothing else, and only costs 5.5 a portion. Some stores even only charge 4.5 a portion.
My friend said that when he came to Wuhan, hot-dry noodles only cost 3 yuan. Later, the price increased by 50 cents each time, and now it is 4.5 yuan. Every time the price of hot-dry noodles increases, the price increases in Wuhan. It is a matter of concern to the whole people.
My friend laughed at me: "How can anyone eat hot dry noodles and take pictures? This is a daily food for people in Wuhan."
Evaluate Cai Linji's hot dry noodles. Probably because of "no comparison, no harm", I think it's pretty good.
Later someone said: The reason why Cai Linji is so famous is because it has everything from hot dry noodles to beef noodles, from bean curds to soup dumplings, from wontons to fried dumplings, everything is available in one stop. It’s too early. It’s rare for a merchant to be so comprehensive, so it’s relatively famous. But if you randomly pick out a single product and compare it horizontally, there are many merchants that can beat Cai Linji.
If you want to eat authentic Wuhan hot and dry noodles, just go to the old streets and alleys of the old city. If you see a long line of people queuing in front of any hot and dry noodle restaurant, just eat, and you will definitely not be disappointed.
This soup noodle mix is ??a bowl of paste. It is the first time I eat it and I am not used to it.
I like to eat three fresh tofu skin very much, the rice inside is very fragrant. Later, I saw many small shops in Hubu Lane making Sanxian tofu skin on site.
Eggnog is somewhat similar to Lanzhou’s glutinous rice wine, which is fermented rice wine with egg blossoms.
After eating hot dry noodles, I walked out of the store and saw a small shop on the street in Wuhan. There was a high stool and a short stool along the road. The high stool was used to replace the table, and the short stool was used for sitting. It's very interesting, one person only takes up the space of 2 stools.
It is said that in the past, many people ate their hot dry noodles while walking because they were in a hurry. A table and a stool like this is already pretty good.
Is it because the pace of life in Wuhan is so fast that we don’t even have time to eat a bowl of hot dry noodles, so we have to eat while walking? It’s rare to see locals everywhere drinking tea like in Chengdu.
A casual photo shows that the old town of Hankou is old and has a sense of time.
When I woke up in the morning and opened the curtains, the Yangtze River Bridge and Qingchuan Pier could be seen outside the hotel window. That day I took a boat from Qingchuan Pier to Zhonghua Road Pier 2 and went to the Yellow Crane Tower. It's very convenient and the ferry fare is only 10 yuan.
This cruise ship connects Hankou and Wuchang, and is in the same direction as the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.
After visiting the Yellow Crane Tower, it only costs 2 yuan to take a boat from Pier 2 of China Road to Jijiazui. It feels like prices are still where they were more than ten years ago, haven’t they changed?
It is said that this is a government subsidy to the ferry company. This is not a commercial cruise ship, but a common urban means of transportation in Wuhan for decades, just like buses and subways.
I was still surprised by the prices in Wuhan: hot dry noodles are 5 yuan, and taking a boat is 2 yuan.
Looking at the river view houses on both sides of the strait, I asked about the housing prices in Wuhan. A friend said that some apartments cost more than 40,000 yuan per square meter, but in a more remote location, there are also river-view rooms that cost more than 20,000 yuan.
Sighing that the people of Wuhan are so happy! In my hometown, a county-level city in Jiangsu, housing prices are over 30,000 per square meter.
Qingchuan Pavilion, also known as Qingchuan Tower, is one of the three major scenic spots in Wuhan together with Yellow Crane Tower and Guqin Terrace. It is known as the "First Building of Qingchuan in Chu State" and one of the "Four Buildings of Chu".
On the bank of the Yangtze River, Qingchuan Pavilion is across the river from the Yellow Crane Tower. Since it is right next to the hotel where I am staying and there is no entrance fee, I went to visit it.
Quite quiet and very happy.
"Yuji Palace", there are four black characters written on the white wall at the entrance. It looks very new, as if it had just been written on it.
The garden is full of green grass and lush bamboo trees, quiet and elegant.
What is surprising is that Qingchuan Pavilion is more than one building, it is a complex of ancient buildings, and the Yuji Palace and Tiemenguan are all connected together.
The leaves of Ginkgo are shiny green. Turning around, he said leisurely: Let's do it again when they turn yellow.
Like an agreement.
"The conflict between Wu and Wei is about this." For hundreds of years from the Three Kingdoms period to the early Tang Dynasty, Tiemenguan has been an important military fortress in Wuhan and has experienced many fierce offensive and defensive battles.
Standing at the iron gate, watching the cars go by for a long time.
“Wuhan ranks among the largest cities in the country and is one of the largest cities in the world.” However, Qingchuan Pavilion, like the Yellow Crane Tower, was destroyed several times in history, which is a pity.
A plane ticket, a bowl of hot dry noodles, and a trip to Wuhan. Although it was short-lived, I had my own memories of this city. The next time I arrive, I don’t know when, who will be with me?
I want to send you a message:
Please cherish the little dreams you still have, the things you want to eat, drink, and see. If you have them, go and realize them. .
For those desires that you have suppressed, persuade yourself that there will be many opportunities in the future. Later, you will find that many years later, all those desires will disappear, there will be no light in your heart, and all external things will have nothing to do with you.
