Romantic feelings. Chongshan Temple, Chunyang Palace and Confucian Temple stand side by side. The harmonious existence of religions reflects the all-encompassing broad-mindedness of this city.
Walking through Taiyuan’s romantic landscapes, looking at the Twin Towers in the sky, appreciating the red leaves, and being intoxicated by the dawn moon in the Mengshan Mountains; traveling through the modern city, walking along Longcheng Avenue, watching Changfeng’s business, and strolling around the prosperous Liuzhou Alley; hang out in the food alley, take a sip of aged vinegar wine, taste the fragrance of a bowl of ramen, and the taste of Taiyuan will be concentrated on the tip of the tongue for a long time. Anyone who has been to Taiyuan will be deeply intoxicated by its enduring beauty.
Today, I will tell you about the Eight Scenes of Taiyuan in the old Taiyuan City.
Twin Pagodas Lingxiao
The twin towers of Yongzuo Temple are known as the "wonders of Jinyang" and one of the landmarks of Taiyuan. Local chronicles of the past dynasties have listed the "Lingxiao Twin Pagodas" as one of the eight scenic spots in ancient Taiyuan. However, the original name of the temple, "Yongzuo Temple", was rarely known until it was replaced by the "Twin Pagodas Temple".
The Lingxiao Twin Towers are the tallest existing ancient buildings in Taiyuan. The two towers are like twin sisters. The Twin Towers of Lingxiao also have another name - Twin Peaks of Writing. The Twin Towers at Lingxiao have been admired by many politicians, thinkers, poets and poets in history. Li Zicheng, the leader of the peasant uprising in the late Ming Dynasty, once eulogized him; Li Weizhen, one of the seven major literati in the south of the Yangtze River in the Ming Dynasty, once recited poems for him; Mr. Fu Shan, a famous thinker and artist in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, once painted for him; Yang Chengwu, a famous general of the People's Liberation Army of New China The general once gave him a thumbs up.
For hundreds of years, literati and beauties have cherished the "Lingxiao Twin Pagodas" of Yongzuo Temple as a unique art treasure or cultural relic.
Juewei Red Leaves
Juewei Mountain Scenic Area is located 24 kilometers northwest of the city. The mountains are steep and steep, with pines and cypresses everywhere. Mountain flowers bloom in spring, and red leaves cover the mountains in autumn. "Juiwei Red Leaves" is one of the famous scenery in Taiyuan. There is Duofu Temple on the top of the mountain. There is a seven-level stupa in the temple. There are temple murals and ink paintings in the temple. Juewei Mountain Scenic Area is close to the urban area and has a pleasant climate. It is a place for tourists to visit and relax. The scenic spots in this scenic spot have their own characteristics, and the transportation is convenient. The nearby beaches and famous restaurants have the characteristics and flavor of Shanxi.
Juewei Red Leaves is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Taiyuan City and one of the top ten red leaf scenic spots in the country. The red-leafed plant name is Cotinus cogitata, which is a wild shrub whose leaves turn from green to yellow, then from yellow to red, and finally to deep red after September. Before the leaves fall, they show their most beautiful and enchanting colors. Mr. Fu Shan loved red leaves all his life. He once invited famous scholars Gu Yanwu and Yan Ermei to come here to appreciate the red leaves, and he also left many good quotes for future generations.
Tutang Strange Cypress
Jingyin Temple, located in Tutang Village, Taiyuan City, was first built in the Northern Qi Dynasty. The temple is divided into two parts: front and back. There are the Tianwang Hall and the East Side Hall in the front yard. There is a card wall and a hanging flower door in the middle, and the Arhat Hall and the Ksitigarbha Hall are in the back yard. On the west side of the temple site, there is a double-eaves resting mountain-style pavilion built on the cliff during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, housing one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas. The ancient cypresses growing strangely beside the temple are one of the most famous sights in Taiyuan.
The "Strange Cypress in Tutang" in Jingyin Temple is also one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Taiyuan City. I wonder if the strange cypress in the ancient hall that Mr. Fu Shan loved back then is here, and where is the strange cypress in the earth hall? Is it because the tree shape is weird, or is it due to other circumstances? No one can tell now. But there is an interesting folk legend here. It is said that the cypress trees around Jingyin Temple grew very luxuriantly back then, but no one could count how many there were. A general who had commanded thousands of troops came here and tried to count the cypress trees. He counted them for a whole day and night, and marked the counted cypress trees with small pieces of paper. However, when he came here the next day, he found that all the cypress trees had the same notes on them, and the number could not be counted.
Lieshi Hanquan
It is located in Shanglan Village, 20 kilometers northwest of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, on the left side of Fenhe River Gorge, next to North University of China.
At the foot of Erlong Mountain, there are palaces standing on the wall, clear streams flowing, the ancient cypresses in the temple are green, and the palaces are majestic. Dou Chua, a senior official of the Jin Dynasty, also known as Mingdu, had a fiefdom in Taiyuan. He once opened canals to make money, and his descendants built a temple here to worship. The temple is located at the foot of Lieshi Mountain, so it is also called Lieshi Shrine. In June of the eighth year of Yuanfeng in the Song Dynasty, the temple was flooded by the Fen River and the tunnel was moved northward and rebuilt. There are inscriptions left in the past dynasties. There are existing mountain gates, pavilions, main halls, etc.
It was rebuilt in the third year of Yuan Zhizheng (1343), partially retaining the style of the Song and Jin Dynasties. Among them, the Xian Pavilion is very large, and the rear eaves columns are replaced by corridor columns in the main hall. The structure is simple and rigorous, which is rare in Jin and Yuan architecture. The clear spring next to the temple gushes out from under the blue cliff of Lieshi Mountain (now known as Erlong Mountain). It is crystal clear, with swimming fish looming. Its water temperature is cold and clear, so it is called "Cold Spring". It complements the ancient Cangbai Temple and is full of elegance. "Fierce Stone Cold Spring" is one of the scenic spots in Taiyuan. It is a pity that the burning stone still exists, but the cold spring does not exist.
Tianmen Snow
Shuanglong Spring and Qian (Chongshu) Valley are both scenic spots near Jinyang, the northern capital. Shuanglong Spring is now the South and North Longquan in the northwest of Yangqu County, Taiyuan City. The two springs are only 500 meters apart, surrounded by undulating mountains and shaded trees. Next to the spring is the Da'an Temple, built in the early Tang Dynasty. There is a pagoda in the temple, commonly known as the "Tang Monk Pagoda". It was the place where the eminent monk Xuanzang taught scriptures during the Zhenguan period. Qian (Chongshu) Valley is a canyon in the northwest of Taiyuan. In ancient times, it was a tunnel from Jinyang to the northwest states. Its east entrance is the famous Tianmen Pass. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty opened traffic here and built a plank road, so it was named Yangguang Road. The cliffs here are as sharp as cut, the valley paths are deep, and the "Snow-covered Tianmen" is one of the eight scenic spots in Jinyang in ancient times. Just under Tianmenguan, where the cliff looks like a cut and the valley path is deep, Yang Guang, the governor of Bingzhou at that time, erected a plank road and built the Dichi Road to the north, which was known as Yang Guang Road in history. At that time, Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty set out from Jinyang and went north along this Chi Road during his third northern inspection tour. He led one hundred thousand officials, soldiers and maidens to visit Fenyang Palace in Ningwu Tianchi and stayed there for five months.
Late crossing of the Fenhe River
The setting sun on the mountain is thousands of purple, and the crossing is like ants returning home.
The sound of oars rolling in the middle of the stream is clear, and there are many sands on the edge of the river. The flying geese rise.
Reminiscing about traveling to Xingqiu in the distant past, who could match my high spirits at that time?
Where are the flutes and drums of the building and boat today? Red polygonum blooms with white gulls every year.
In addition to the natural scenery, the ancients paid more attention to the artistic conception when viewing the scenery. Because of this, the Fenhe River's late crossing became one of the eight scenic spots in Taiyuan in the Qing Dynasty.
Mengshan Xiaoyue
Mengshan is located in the west of Luocheng Village, Jinyuan District. "Taiyuan County Chronicle" records: "Mengshan Xiaoyue: This mountain is the highest, standing side by side with Xuanweng and Fangshan. Whenever it dawns, the moon hangs on the top of the peak, and it is cold to the bones." There are places of interest such as the Mengshan Giant Buddha and Dazhuangyan Temple nearby.
