The second-generation Hong Kong HSBC Headquarters Building (1886): Bama designed two completely different facades for the HSBC Headquarters Building, and the side facing Des Voeux Road (facing the sea at that time) adopted the most common veranda (colonial style) in Hong Kong at that time, which maintained harmony with the surrounding buildings; The side facing Queen's Road adopted the neoclassical style popular in England at that time, with Corinthian colonnade and huge dome. This unique approach reflects the architect's understanding of Hong Kong's pluralistic society and has been recognized by the owners. The building 1886 was completed, and 1933 was demolished and rebuilt.

Shanghai HSBC Tower (1923): Hong Kong &; Bank of Shanghai LimitedNo. 65438+ Bund 12, June 23, 20923. 192 1 year, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking CO, Ltd. has developed into the most powerful foreign bank in China, and its Shanghai branch at Bund 12 has surpassed the head office in Hong Kong. Therefore, Shanghai Branch of HSBC Bank decided to demolish the three-story Renaissance building built in 1877 and rebuild a more magnificent branch building. Gongheyang designed "the most luxurious building in the Far East from Suez Canal to Bering Strait". The huge dome in the middle, the Ionian colonnade along the river facade, the rough granite exterior wall, decorative materials such as marble and brass, and exquisite murals all help the owners to show their wealth and power. The completion of this building also enabled Shanghainese to fully appreciate the skillful use of western classical technology by Gonghe Foreign Firm, which won the bank a great reputation.
Jiang Customs Building: Customs 1927 65438+February19, Bund 13. The north side of the building of Shanghai HSBC Bank is adjacent to Jiangcustomhouse, the most important customs in China. After the reconstruction of HSBC Tower, in 1925, Jiang Haiguan also decided to demolish the original Gothic red brick building, and invested 4.3 million taels of silver to invite Gongheyang to design a new building. 1927 12 19, the new Jiangguan Pavilion was completed, and the architectural style as a whole still belongs to classicism, with an authentic Dorian colonnade on the fa? ade. The three-dimensional sense and towering feeling of the top floor of the bell tower show that the aesthetic taste of Gonghe Foreign Firm is tending to the decorative art style.
Sassoon Mansion: 65438 Sassoon Mansion+No.20 Bund, September 5, 0929. 1926, Gonghe foreign firm designed the first building with a floor above 10 in Shanghai, and it was also the first high-rise building in Shanghai to abandon the classical style. 1When the building was completed on September 5, 929, its typical decorative art style caused a sensation in Shanghai. Its dark green pyramid-shaped copper roof, which is as high as 19 meters, has been an eye-catching symbol of the Bund for many years. The owner of the building is Huamao Real Estate Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of New Sassoon Foreign Firm, which was founded by the British Jewish Sassoon family. New Sassoon Foreign Firm has opened a top luxury hotel-Cathay Pacific Hotel, with 9 ethnic style rooms. The East Hall on the ground floor is rented to ABN· Amro and Ubi Bank, and the top floor is Sassoon's own luxury residence. After 1956, the name of the hotel was changed to Peace Hotel.
Bank of China Building on the Bund: The former site of the Bank of China Building on the Bund was the German General Association, which was taken over by the Bank of China after China declared war on Germany in 19 17. 1928, after the establishment of the Nanjing government, the head office of China Bank also moved from Beijing to Shanghai. 1936- 1937, the Shanghai head office of China Bank was rebuilt. Gonghe Foreign Firm cooperated with China architect Lu Qianshou to design this 17-story building, with a traditional blue glazed tile pyramid roof in China at the top and some details decorated with traditional Chinese colors. The total height of the building is more than 70 meters, slightly lower than the adjacent Sassoon Building.
