Zhengzhou University of Electric Power is an ordinary engineering college integrating electric power, electric power, economy and trade, electromechanical and electronic information, and it is the cradle and base for cultivating talents in electric power construction, production and management.

The school enrolls students from all over the country, runs schools in different levels and forms, and offers 24 majors, 7 correspondence majors and 3 correspondence undergraduate majors. Among them, three majors of power plant and power system, relay protection and electrical control, and centralized control operation of thermal power plant were listed as national pilot majors of educational reform by the Ministry of Education, and three majors of thermal power plant, mold design and manufacturing, and computer application technology were approved by Henan Province as the second batch of pilot majors of educational reform.
