1924, Qiu Degen was born in the home of a small vendor. Because of his poor family, he dropped out of junior high school after only a few months.

Later, he bought a small theater in the New Territories-Tsuen Wan Theater for HK$ 5,000. Qiu Degen knows that with this capital, he really can't compete with others in the urban area. Because the city people are only interested in the newly released films, and the rent of the new films is very expensive, as long as one or two films are not optimistic, it will be enough to make him lose all his money. So he turned his attention to the countryside. At that time, the rural film industry in Hong Kong was still very backward, and it was hard for rural residents to see a film. In the off-season, they have nothing to do but drop in, chat and sleep. For them, even old movies are very fresh. The rent of old movies is extremely cheap, 1 HK$ can be rented for one day. Opening a cinema in the countryside has both a market and a low cost, and it is sure to have a bright future. The idea was certain, and the Qiu Degen couple began to act. Sure enough, as they expected, rural cinemas are very popular with villagers and the attendance rate is extremely high. At first, rural residents were not used to watching movies during the day, but they had to watch them during the day because they often couldn't get tickets at night. By 1960, just before and after 10, they had already set up 14 theaters in the countryside and had a lot of money on hand. With a piece of land under his feet and a sky above his head, Qiu Degen was called "a self-made Shanghainese" by his peers. After continuous rolling, Qiu opened more than 10 cinemas in Sha Tin, Tai Po, Fanling and Yuen Long in the New Territories, and became the newly emerging "king of cinemas" in the New Territories. 1982, he bought 50% equity of this TV station, renamed it "Asia TV Station", reorganized the organization and became the chairman. Qiu Degen knows that TV stations need funds, talents and good scripts to develop. He invited Li Zhuanglie and Xu Xiaoming from the film and television industry to be the chief producer and program manager respectively, responsible for the production of ATV. Neither of them lived up to Qiu Degen's high hopes, and successively released Huo Yuanjia, Zhen Chen, Huo Dongge and other costume martial arts films. "Loyalty, filial piety, benevolence and righteousness" have always been respected by China people. These three TV series have carried forward this tradition, so they immediately caused a sensation in Hong Kong and the mainland. The natural benefits of "ATV" have greatly increased. Since then, "ATV" has successively launched a series of costume dramas: Wu Zetian, Qin Shihuang and Xi Shi, all of which have achieved great success and high ratings. Among them, "Wu Zetian" is also broadcast overseas and frequently appears on TV screens in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Britain, France and other countries. The rapid development of Asian TV stations has caused panic among wireless TV stations, and the two sides have launched fierce competition. In order to compete for the audience, "ATV" and "Wireless" simultaneously launched the election activities of "Miss Asia" and "Miss Bodybuilding", which were broadcast live that night. Both sides did a lot of publicity in advance, and all of Hong Kong was talking about it for a while. People are both excited and complaining about it, so they have to keep changing channels while watching it. This shows that the influence of "ATV" has been deeply rooted in people's hearts. Since 1984, the TV station has a surplus every year. Qiu Degen has realized his long-cherished wish for many years. Qiu Degen went to Hong Kong from the mainland when he was young. He still has deep feelings for the motherland and has been paying attention to the development and changes of the mainland. As an economic person, he also knows that China is a huge market with great potential. Far East Group actively sought development opportunities in Chinese mainland. As early as 1980s, he returned to China for investment. In Shekou Industrial Zone, he invested in the construction of a huge Far East flour mill covering an area of 17000 square meters. Since then, he has invested in hotels in Ningbo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and other places to develop mainland tourism. He once invested $30 million in Ningbo to build the Overseas Chinese Hotel. 1In May, 985, the Qiu family sold 25% of the shares of Far East Bank to Huamei International Co., Ltd. with China background to strengthen business ties with the mainland. Qiu Degen is a member of China People's Political Consultative Conference and a director of Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Development Association.
