What does Chinglish mean?

Chinglish (English: Chinglish, a portmanteau of "Chinese" and "English") refers to English with Chinese pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary characteristics. Chinglish is generally used to describe two different situations: 1) English that contains grammatical or spelling errors, often used by Chinese who are beginners in English; 2) Chinese language conversion that contains English vocabulary, such as Chinese who cannot recall properly due to insufficient Chinese vocabulary. Use English words instead of Chinese words, or deliberately use English words to show your English proficiency.

The earliest Chinglish should appear in Hong Kong. At that time, the British forcibly leased Hong Kong Island. In the cargo loading and unloading area, many people who often interacted with foreigners slowly learned a few simple English words from the foreigners, and used the newly learned English to form sentences in their own way. Many of these words and phrases have even been integrated into English. (For example: "Long time no see!" when greeting someone)
