What is the plot of Call of Duty 9?
The story is set in 2025, but it will start from the Cold War in 1980, focusing on the life experience of Raul Menendez, the villain in "Black Ops 2". This person provoked a war between China and the United States in 2025. In the story set in 1980, players will take on the role of Alex Mason, the protagonist in Black Ops. Much of it deals with proxy wars in Central America. Frank Woods, another character from "Black Ops", will return in "Black Ops 2" and narrate the story that continues until 2025. Viktor Reznov's subplot and his relationship with Alex Mason that began in War of the Worlds and flourished in Black Ops will continue in Black Ops 2.
Throughout the story of "Black Ops 2", Menendez has been using future technology to disrupt the already unstable geopolitical situation. In a mission late in the game, the opponent sent a formation of drones to attack the G-20 Summit held in downtown Los Angeles. The Chinese know that the drones are not sent by the United States. When American drones attack their homeland, their suspicions become even more serious. I don’t know Menendez’s motives yet, but after watching this mission, I feel that this man’s ability to cause destruction is much stronger than he appears on the surface.
Half of Los Angeles was in flames. At the beginning of the mission, David Mason protected the female President of the United States in the back seat of the transport vehicle. Treyarch wanted the future in Black Ops 2 to feel believable, so it looked more like present-day Los Angeles than the futuristic cityscape you saw in The Fifth Element. The street scenes put Michael Bay's movies to shame, with dozens of fighter jets, numerous armored vehicles and countless infantrymen creating majestic mayhem. Mason's vehicle missed multiple explosions and overturned on the way into town, only to discover that it had been hit by friendly forces.
Mason climbed out of the car wreckage and locked his eyes on an anti-aircraft machine gun mounted on an armored vehicle on the highway. There was a big hole in the road directly below the car, and the hanging vehicle was in danger. He climbed into the car, held the machine gun, and immediately locked onto seven enemy drones and shot them down from the sky. Mason repeated the process, shooting down several subsequent groups before the vehicles fell through the hole in the highway and below. Our hero instantly leaps to safety, grabs a charged (as opposed to powder-powered) assault rifle and prepares to take on Menendez's ground troops.
Just a few seconds after Mason's feet hit the ground, I saw something unusual for a Call of Duty game. There are two markers near the edge of the collapsed highway called "Sniper" and "Rappel". Both options involve fighting Menendez's forces, but players can choose how they want to play. Using a rope to descend allows players to quickly run between bunkers and eliminate enemies, in typical Call of Duty style. Sniping, on the other hand, provides the opportunity to use futuristic technology. If you choose the latter, you'll want to try out a sniper rifle that can see through walls, in a manner similar to the "clairvoyance" gun in Perfect Dark. Sniping enemies through walls gives Mason a tactical advantage, but this weapon also has a downside, which is its slow reload speed. Even with this minor inconvenience, the sniper option provides a more novel (and tactically safer) way to fight.
With the immediate threat under control, Mason jumped into a nearby car and headed straight for the summit. An enemy flew towards the car windshield. As soon as the car accelerated, they were all dead souls under the wheels. The vehicle sped along Figueroa Street, passing several familiar sights, such as the Los Angeles Convention Center (home of the annual E3) and the Staples Center. At this time, a semi-truck trying to escape from the city overturned several cars and blocked Mason's path. He jumped out of the car and continued to fight the enemy on foot until he encountered a new type of enemy - the "Claw" (CLAW, which stands for Cognitive Ground Assault Weapon). This quadruped robot is loaded with weapons. If its four legs are not destroyed, it will pose a huge threat to you.
After using this strategy to destroy the robot, Mason rushed to the bunker in a shopping mall.
There, he summoned two flying turrets called quadcopter drones to assist him via a touchscreen on his wrist. Three gun barrels, not one, opened fire, clearing Menendez's men to pieces. Air support made a clean sweep of the enemy, but there was little it could do as the hotel building collapsed in front of Merlin. What follows is a scene all too familiar to Call of Duty fans, as the player is knocked unconscious by rubble and then regains consciousness.
After the collapse, the scene in Los Angeles was very similar to New York, which had just suffered the 911 attacks. Streets and vehicles were covered in dust and rubble, and everything was gray. Mason lingered for a while before following instructions and climbing into the cockpit of a military vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, where a voice over the radio assured him that the onboard computer would handle most of the heavy lifting. Not far away, a friendly vehicle was transporting an important figure (perhaps the President), and a Harrier-like fighter jet proved its worth in road clearing. In the process, it destroyed a parking building and caused a large crane to crash into a skyscraper.
Finally, drones roaring in the sky are regarded as the biggest threat at present. At this moment, the fighter jet switches from hovering mode to jet mode, and a thrilling aerial dogfight is about to take place. Players are given full control of their aircraft, and the ensuing battle feels like Ace Combat rather than the choreographed dogfight sequences of yore. Mason's fierce battle was interrupted by an incoming missile. He was unable to eject from the cockpit. Before he could land on the street, his body was violently thrown into a building. At this point, the experience is almost over.
Network director Dan Bunding showed me some of the upgrades. Treyarch has been working on a hybrid of what he calls "techniques and techniques."
